Most people don’t realise this until much later —

The problem isn’t lack of effort, and it’s not lack of discipline either.

It’s that the change never becomes something your system recognises as familiar.

So you keep returning to what is familiar, even if it doesn’t feel good.

That’s why it can feel like you’re starting again every day.

Not because you’re doing it wrong, but because nothing has actually been integrated yet.

The work we’re sharing with you soon is about changing that relationship.

Not chasing better nervous system states, but building the capacity to live from them.

If this is something you’ve been noticing in yourself, I’d be curious to hear what it feels like for you.

You can spend years doing things that help… without anything actually changing.

Not because they don’t work.
But because they only meet you in controlled conditions.

The real question is:

What happens when you’re triggered?
When you’re rushed?
When you don’t have time to “do the practice”?

That’s where your system defaults.

And that’s the part most people never learn how to work with.

We’re going to start opening this up soon through our new online offerings.

Stay close.

Most people see Hinterland Village as a retreat space.

And yes… it most definitely is.

But what we’ve been building quietly over time goes much deeper than that.

Because a few days of rest, even a few weeks…
can open something.

But it doesn’t necessarily change how your system functions when you return to your life.

That’s where the real work begins.

Through our online platform - Hinterland Village School of Yoga, I guide people into understanding their nervous system—not as theory, but as lived experience.

So practice becomes something that actually supports you…
not something you keep trying to “get right.”

If you’ve been feeling like something in your practice isn’t quite landing…
you’re not alone.

Stay close. I’ll be sharing more soon.

One thing I’ve been hearing a lot lately is this…

People are trying to rest, but it’s not really landing.
Like you step away, you slow down, you even take time off…

And still something in the body stays active.
I’m curious how this has been for you.
Do you feel like you’re able to actually switch off at the moment?

Or does it feel like something is still running in the background, even when you’re doing “all the right things”?

For some people it shows up as overthinking.

For others it’s tension in the body.

For others it’s just a sense of never fully dropping into rest.

If you feel comfortable, share what it’s been like for you.

Even a short sentence or a few words.

We’re paying attention to these patterns closely right now, and shaping what we share next around what people are actually experiencing.

It feels important to understand this properly, not just push through it.

Blessed love, Aje & the Hinterland family

Something I’ve been noticing a lot recently…

people don’t always know what’s wrong.

They just know something doesn’t feel right.

You go through your day, doing what you need to do, but underneath it there’s something.

A bit of tension.

A bit of restlessness.

A bit of disconnection.

It’s hard to explain because nothing is obviously “wrong”…

but you don’t quite feel like yourself either. I’m curious if this has been your experience lately.

Not in a big dramatic way, but in a subtle everyday way.

If you feel this too, let me know below, even just a word.

We’re paying close attention to what people are actually feeling right now and shaping what we share next around that.

I’ve been noticing something in conversations lately…

Not just here, but with students, friends, people passing through.

There’s a certain kind of weight people are carrying right now.

Not always obvious, not always spoken, but it’s there.

And it’s showing up in different ways for different people.

I’m curious… how has this been landing for you?

Has it been harder to focus, feeling more tired than usual, a sense of being a bit on edge… or the opposite, a bit numb?

Or something else entirely?

There’s no right answer here.

I’d really like to understand what people are actually experiencing right now, not what we think it should be.

If you feel comfortable, share below or even just drop a word that describes your current state.

We’ll be reading everything and shaping what we share next based on what’s actually real for you.

This feels like an important conversation to be in together.

Blessings and love,

Aje

Sometimes the changes people experience here are not dramatic.

They’re quiet.

Sleep becomes deeper.
Breathing becomes slower.
The body begins to settle.

These small shifts often happen naturally when the nervous system is given the space it needs.

A slower environment, daily practice, and time on the land can be surprisingly powerful.

Often it’s these subtle changes that all add up to the profound transformation people feel by the time they leave Hinterland Village.

We love connecting with you - what subtle shift did you feel after your stay with us?

Life in cities often moves quickly.

Days become full of notifications, schedules, and constant stimulation.

One of the first things people notice when they arrive at Hinterland Village is that the rhythm changes.

Mornings begin more quietly.
Conversations take a little longer.
Time feels less compressed.

And through practice, people often rediscover something very simple:

How to slow down enough to actually feel present.

The Hinterland Village online community exists so that this rhythm can continue even after people return home.

Once a month our community gathers online for a shared practice with one of our teachers.

This Sunday 22nd March join Varsha Live for a simple, yet powerful practice - Cyclic Meditation.

If you're already part of the community, we look forward to practicing with you.

If you’re not yet inside, you’re warmly welcome.

Each month our online community meets for a shared session guided by one of our teachers. These gatherings are simple, grounded, and open to anyone inside the community, wherever they are in the world.

This month’s session will be guided by Varsha, whose teaching brings a beautiful sense of steadiness and clarity to practice.

If you’re already part of the Hinterland community, we look forward to practicing together.

And if you’ve been quietly following along from the outside, you’re warmly welcome to step in.

One of the most meaningful things we’ve seen over the years at Hinterland Village is how often people return.

Some guests first arrived many years ago and still come back.

Some stay for longer periods when they need space to reset.

Some simply feel drawn back every now and then.

It’s never something we planned.

But perhaps certain places create a feeling that stays with you long after you leave.

And sometimes the only way to understand that feeling…

is to come back again.

Is there a place in the world that keeps calling you back?

Veronik says Hinterland Village saved her life.

Not metaphorically.

Not poetically.

Literally.

After travelling the world searching for something deeper…

she found it here.

Now she comes back every year.

Sometimes for months.

Because when a place helps you rebuild yourself…

it stops being a destination.

It becomes home.

Have you ever experienced finding yourself with the support of a certain place?
