A few years back, her 1st pregnancy resulted in "blighted o**m"... She came back again with a "positive" report and a lot of faith... she thoroughly enjoyed her 9 month journey and was always smiling "Ami valo achi, kono problem nei madam"... we were all eagerly waiting for normal delivery when her liver enzymes started rising, and despite all medication we finally had to opt for an emergency Caesarean... All's well that ends well...

আজ সন্ধ্যায় আলাপ হলো "সুপ্রীত" এর সাথে। অবশ্য মাস দুয়েক আগে রাতে emergency OT তে প্রথম দেখা, তখন paediatrician তাড়া দিচ্ছিলেন, তাই বেশি সময় পাইনি। আজ খানিকক্ষণ গল্প-সল্প হলো।

"Cord around neck"- how significant is it?

Nowadays we obstetricians frequently come across USG reports mentioning presence of loop of umbilical cord around neck of fetus. This although harmless in most of the cases, causes significant concern among expecting mothers. It is at times, quite challenging to assure them that serial observation is enough, often resulting in Preterm termination of otherwise uncomplicated pregnancy...

Following is the elective Caesarean 38wks for post CS pregnancy, who waited patiently with my assurance despite all USG reports since 28wks showed presence of 2 loops of cord around fetal neck...
