Empowering women is not just about giving opportunities—it’s about equipping them with the right skills and creating pathways into the workforce where those skills are valued.

Skill development is the real game-changer. It transforms potential into capability, and capability into confidence. When a woman becomes financially independent, she doesn’t just uplift herself—she uplifts her family, her community, and the economy at large.

Yet, the gap still exists. Many women are trained, but not absorbed into the workforce. The real conversation we need to have is:
Are we creating enough opportunities for women to participate, lead, and grow?

Organizations, institutions, and communities must come together to:

Build industry-relevant skills

Create inclusive hiring ecosystems

Support flexible and safe work environments

Encourage women to step into roles traditionally dominated by men

At Sudhamta Foundation India, we believe empowerment is complete only when skill meets opportunity. Because true progress is not when women are prepared for the workforce—but when they are actively shaping it.

Let’s move from intent to action.
Let’s build an ecosystem where women don’t just participate—they lead.

In India, millions still face period poverty—limited access to sanitary products, lack of awareness, and deep-rooted stigma. This doesn’t just affect health, it impacts education, dignity, and opportunity.

Investing in the education of the girl child is not just a social responsibility — it is one of the most powerful catalysts for sustainable development.

When a girl is educated, she gains the ability to make informed choices, break cycles of poverty, and contribute meaningfully to her family and society. Educated women lead to healthier families, stronger communities, and more resilient economies. It is not just about literacy — it is about dignity, independence, and opportunity.

This is where companies have a critical role to play. Through CSR initiatives, businesses can go beyond profit to create long-term social impact. Supporting girl child education — through scholarships, infrastructure, digital access, and community programs — is an investment in the future workforce, leadership, and inclusive growth of the nation.

When corporates and social organisations come together, impact becomes scalable and sustainable.

If we truly want a progressive and equitable India, investing in our girls is not optional — it is essential. 💛

Gratitude fills my heart as I look back on the beautiful evening hosted at the Daga House lawns — where stories, memories, and emotions blended under one sky.

It was an honour for Sudhamta Foundation, in association with Alka Jalan Foundation and Ahava Communication, to present a special reading by the legendary Aparna Sen from acclaimed film critic and biographer Padmashri Bhawana Somaaya’s deeply personal memoir, “Farewell Karachi – A Partition Memoir.”

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us — our guests, readers, friends from the arts and culture fraternity — for making this evening so meaningful. Your presence added warmth and depth to a conversation that was as much about history as it was about humanity.

Why Unity Matters in Our Celebrations:
Durga Puja has always been more than a religious festival - it's a celebration of feminine strength, community spirit, and the triumph of good over evil. These universal values resonate across all faiths and cultures. When we open our doors to everyone, we honor the very essence of what Maa Durga represents - a mother who protects and nurtures all her children, regardless of their background.

We’ve witnessed how young people are not just participants but catalysts of change — shaping strategies, leading initiatives, and questioning systems that no longer serve the future.
