Delivered a lecture on IGG4- Related disease at annual conference of Indian Association of Clinical Medicine. It was a well organised conference attended by faculties and delegates from all over India.

What is IgG4-Related Disease?

IgG4-Related Disease (IgG4-RD) is a rare, chronic, and immune-mediated condition characterized by fibrosis and inflammation in multiple organs. It is associated with elevated levels of Immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4) antibodies and dense infiltration of IgG4-positive plasma cells in affected tissues.

Commonly Affected Organs

IgG4-RD can affect almost any organ, but the most commonly involved include:

Pancreas (Autoimmune pancreatitis)
Salivary and lacrimal glands (Mikulicz’s disease, Sjögren’s-like presentation)
Bile ducts (IgG4-related sclerosing cholangitis)
Lymph nodes (Lymphadenopathy)
Kidneys (Tubulointerstitial nephritis)
Lungs (Inflammatory masses)
Retroperitoneum (Retroperitoneal fibrosis)
Symptoms

Symptoms vary depending on the organ involved but may include:

Painless swelling of affected organs
Jaundice (if bile ducts are involved)
Abdominal pain (pancreatitis or fibrosis)
Dry eyes and mouth (lacrimal/salivary gland involvement)
Fatigue and weight loss

Gout has long been known as the "disease of kings" because of the lavish diet and alcohol consumption of the wealthy, like King Henry VIII, who suffered from it. Gout is also the "king of arthritic diseases" because the pain of an acute gout attack is so severe, it often leads to a visit to the emergency department.
