Liposuction: Common Side Effects

Liposuction is a safe and effective body-contouring procedure. However, like any surgical treatment, some temporary side effects are normal during the healing process.
You may experience:
• Swelling – Mild to moderate swelling that reduces over a few weeks
• Bruising – Usually fades within 1–2 weeks
• Pain or Discomfort – Mild soreness manageable with prescribed medication
• Numbness or Tingling – Temporary and improves over time
• Fluid Accumulation (Seroma) – Occasionally may need drainage
• Skin Irregularities – Temporary lumpiness or unevenness that smoothens with healing
• Redness or Warmth – Common in the initial days
• Fatigue – Feeling tired for a few days post-surgery is normal
Important:
Most side effects are temporary and resolve with proper care. Serious complications are rare when liposuction is performed by an experienced plastic surgeon. Always follow post-operative instructions and attend follow-up visits.
