Some [Interesting] Facts about Ma*****na
If you are into ma*****na, there are certain facts that might delight you. Let’s start with the most bizarre one that you or somebody you know has possibly used cannabis as a recreational drug at least one time in the whole life. So, it kind of makes you a w**d smoker. If you have ever used cannabis once in your life, then you must know the feeling that it makes you have the munchies when you are high. It is mainly because a little complex reaction that goes on when you use ma*****na. THC, the active ingredient in cannabis, inhibits CB1- a cannabinoid receptor. CB1 is partially responsible for signaling the appetite suppressing hormone- Leptin. Leptin is not activated when CB1 is blocked.
Another important fact worth knowing is that it is almost impossible to overdose on ma*****na. It is medically true that it takes over 800 joints for a person to get killed and even if (after taking 800 joints) a person dies, it will be because of the carbon monoxide poisoning (not THC). Statistics show that alcohol kills 85,000 people, prescription drugs kill 18,675, caffeine 5,800, aspirin 7,600, heroine 2,147 and ma*****na 0 per annum.
Now a little history tips for you. Ma*****na was first used for medical purposes in China in the year 1737 and it was then used to treat the pain of gout and rheumatism. And, Paraguay has been the largest ma*****na producer for most of the time in cannabis history. The very first law passed in the United States of America required the farmers to grow it for h**p- that is for ropes, clothing and sails. In case you do not know, both Thomas Jefferson and George Washington owned h**p farms back in their times. Even, Jefferson drafted the Declaration of Independence on h**p paper. In the 1930s, the then US government saw ma*****na as a problem because of the Great Depression, increasing unemployment and the associations of ma*****na smuggling with the Mexicans. By 1939, 29 states outlawed ma*****na. Studies and reports showed with evidence that cannabis was significantly less detrimental than thought previously. Moreover, the reports showed there were no links between cannabis and s*x crimes, violence, addiction or insanity. In the 70s, Shafer Commission suggested that personal use of cannabis be legitimate. Unfortunately enough, Nixon did not approve of the suggestion though. On the other hand, 11 states decriminalized cannabis and almost all the states at the time reduced penalties for acts regarding cannabis. In the 90s, California legalized the application of medical cannabis only for patients suffering from serious diseases like AIDS. And now, in the USA only, cannabis is the fourth most valued crop and generates a $36 billion market.
Both cannabis and ci******es contain about 50 carcinogenic chemicals while chronic smoking of cannabis does not increase the risk of lung cancer unlike cigarette smoking. Moreover, cannabis is much less addictive than ci******es (90% addiction rate). You will get high only if you use the female plants; male plants are used only to fertilize the female plants.
