✨ 107 years young & still fighting strong ✨

Today was one of those rare moments that reminds me why I chose orthopaedics.

Operating on a 107-year-old lady with an intertrochanteric fracture was not just a surgical case—it was an emotional experience for the entire team. 🦴❤️

Seeing someone who has lived through more than a century place her trust in us was truly humbling. Age becomes just a number when courage, resilience, and family support come together. 🙏

I felt deeply honoured that her relatives chose me as their surgeon. That trust carries a responsibility far beyond the operation theatre. Moments like these reinforce the belief that timely surgery, thoughtful decision-making, and compassionate care can make a meaningful difference—at any age.

Grateful to my OT team and hospital staff who stood strong with precision and empathy. 💙
This is more than surgery. This is service.

The Scalpel is Losing Its Edge? 🔪📉

The latest NEET-PG trends are out, and the results are shocking. The "glory" of surgery is facing a reality check. 🏥
Swipe left to see why the next generation of doctors is hanging up the apron before even putting it on. ⬅️
The Highlights:

🔹 The Shift: Out of the Top 1,500 rankers, only 99 chose General Surgery. Medicine and Radiology are the new kings. 👑

🔹 Lifestyle First: Gen Z doctors are prioritizing mental health and predictable hours over 2:00 AM emergency calls. 😴

🔹 The Long Road: Surgery often means "settling" at 40. Medicine offers a faster track to stability. ⏳

🔹 Risk vs. Reward: Rising litigation and burnout are making high-risk surgical branches less attractive.

Is the era of the "hero surgeon" over, or is this just a much-needed shift toward work-life balance? ⚖️

When repairing an Achilles tendon tear, strength and precision matter—and that’s where the Krackow stitch shines 💪🪡

This locking loop technique provides excellent tendon grip, evenly distributes tension, and significantly reduces the risk of suture pull-out. In Achilles repairs, where powerful forces act with every step, the Krackow stitch ensures a strong, secure, and reliable fixation.

Its longitudinal locking pattern aligns well with tendon fibers, helping restore length and tension while allowing early rehabilitation when indicated 🚶‍♂️⚡. For surgeons, it offers confidence in repair; for patients, it supports better healing and a faster return to function.

A small stitch, but a big role in a strong comeback 🔥

Cold or Heat? Most people get confused, but the rule is actually simple! ❄️🔥
Use COLD for fresh injuries — swelling, redness, sudden pain, sprains, or trauma. Cold helps reduce inflammation and numbs the area, giving quick relief. Apply for 10–15 minutes, and always use a cloth barrier. ❄️🧊

Use HEAT for chronic pain — long-standing back pain, arthritis, muscle tightness, stiffness. Heat relaxes muscles, improves blood flow, and helps the area move better. Warm packs or hot showers work beautifully. 🔥♨️

But remember: never use heat on a fresh injury, and don’t use ice on stiff, chronic joints before activity. Choose smart, heal faster, stay active! 💪✨

Social media is a powerful tool for medical education, but the line between educating the public and advertising our services can get blurry. 🩺📱

As doctors in India, navigating NMC guidelines is crucial to maintain professional integrity and avoid regulatory issues. The core principle is simple: Serve the public interest, not your business interest.

The primary goal of medical ethics guidelines is to prevent the commercialization of medicine. Soliciting patients directly, offering discounts, or claiming to be "the best" are strictly prohibited

Even with patient consent, resharing positive reviews to your feed is considered advertising by the NMC and is currently prohibited. Furthermore, patient privacy regarding clinical images (like X-rays) must be absolute.

There is often confusion among colleagues and patients about what is allowed by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
Based on current regulations and proposed guidelines, the focus must remain on education, not solicitation.

Swipe through this carousel for a breakdown of the "Red Zones" and "Green Zones" of medical social media use. Let's keep our online presence professional, ethical, and helpful.
