Strength Training is the most important aspect in fitness. Everybody should do strength training as it helps to maintain and also gain muscle mass. It improves overall body composition,
increase bone density, helps to maintain balance.
Strength training is the functional application of Newton's second law of physics, which defines force as the product of a mass and its acceleration. Simply it is said that strength is the ability to accelerate a mass from a state of rest, which results in the production of muscular force. Strength is developed in response to the amount of resistance and the type of movements used in an exercise program.
Generaly there are 4 types of Strength.
Absolute Strength
Relative Strength
Power or Explosive Strength
Strength Endurance
Absolute Strength of a muscle or a group of muscles in a given movement equals the highest external resistance an athlete can overcome or hold with full voluntary mobilization of his or her neuromuscular system. Example - Powerlifters, 1 rep Max.
Relative Strength is the strength which is realated to the size of the person. If a person with less bodyweight can lift very heavy then the realtive strength of that person is very high.
Example- Gymnastics movements.
Explosive strength is the speed at which you can use your strength. Means to lift heavy with speed. Example- Weightlifters.
Strength Endurance is the ability to repeatedly exert force against a form of resistance. It is the activity that requires a relatively long duration of muscle tension with a minimal decrease in efficiency. Example- Endurance Athelets.
