A Critical and difficult case of Thymoma Surgery done @ Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute Complete surgery was performed thoracoscopically with 4 key holes negating the need for opening the chest cavity which otherwise would have needed a prolonged recovery time.
This Patient was discharged on the 3rd post operative day .

Kidney cancers are devastating but when treated at an early stage can have great results, Radical Nephrectomy ( removal of the offending kidney) using Minimally Invasive Techniques ( Laparoscopic /Robotic surgery) are routine procedures these days with good oncologic clearance and almost nil surgical complications, this case was performed at CNCI-Newtown on a young adult suffering from a rare variety of Kidney cancer. For Last 8 yrs my team has been performing these advanced surgeries laparoscopically which helped us standardize our technique with minimum morbidity and a legacy of many successful & happy faces . Early recovery and minimal post-operative pain are the cornerstones of this supra-major surgery.

We have been routinely performing this surgery at Chittaranjan national cancer institute for last 2 years with 0% operative mortality.

It was really a Pleasure meeting my old Bosses and my Mentors along with getting to connect with my old pals in The City of Hyderabad after alomost 12 years, it has changed a lot and has metamorphosed into a hustling and bustling beautiful city, i still miss my days in secunderabad .I am grateful to the Organisers for considering me as a part of this academic extravaganza as a Faculty.

Rarely do we get to do 2 spleen preserving surgeries in a week , sharing here the 1st case ----of a Localy advanced non metastatic Left Renal Malignant SOL closely abutting the splenic hilum and infiltrating the splenic art. and diaphragmatic crus. We Spared the spleen by resecting and anastomosing the SA (end to end) along with a R0 radical nephrectomy with LND . Postoperative recovery was uneventful with scans revealing a viable spleen. Duration of surgery - 140 mins
Will subsequently share my 2nd case in my next post ----- a case of spleen sparing distal pancreatectomy for (pancreatic tail NET).

It was a Hectic yet wonderful & fruitful experience for our team @ CNCI- Kolkata on the eve of festivities - Thanks for the blessings of Goddess Durga and best wishes from our friends & family besides our Patients.

Fluorescence Guided Surgery using Indocyanine Green in early Oral cancer( tongue)----- our initial tryst with few cases@CNCI Kolkata.
Sentinel Lymphnode Navigation surgery reduces morbidity associated with neck dissections.The advantages of ICG fluorescence imaging include access to real-time intraoperative visual information.
We Inject small amount of the dye(ICG) around the oral malignant lesion and then after few minutes we use a hand held probe to detect the sentinel nodes in the neck which lights up as bright specs in the operative field, subsequently we make a limited incision and send the nodes for intraoperative Frozen biopsy . For standardizing the method at our institute we are in the process of collecting data for initial few cases in coming months .
