This page is promoted by Dr Arindam Pande, who is an interventional cardiologist with special interest in structural heart disease interventions. He is currently working as a full time consultant in Medica Superspecialty Hospital, Kolkata. His expertise involve coronary angiography and angioplasty in radial route, permanent pacemaker implantation, implantable cardiac defibrillators (ICD), cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT), balloon mitral valvuloplasty (BMV), BPV, electrophysiology (EP) study, peripheral vascular interventions, device closure of congenital heart disease etc. After successfully completing DM cardiology training, he pursued fellowship in advanced structural heart disease intervention from Cedars Sinai Heart Institute, Los Angeles, USA. It’s so much of fun when you start learning by knowledge sharing and mutual decision making among like minded people. TAVR workshop at the “State of the art” Cardiac Centre at “University Medical Centre” Astana, Kazakhstan was exactly that. By the way, did you know Astana is the second coldest capital city of the world ? (after Ulaanbataar, Mongolia). Enjoyed the whole of it.

Every patient has a story to share!

Meet my 28 year software engineer patient. He used to take 7 medicines for his blood pressure. Inspite of that, his BP was never under control! After excluding all the secondary causes of hypertension, we went ahead with “Renal Denervation Therapy” (RDN) with Medtronic Spyral 3 Catheter system. Starting BP was 168/110 mmHg, which became 120/70 mmHg on the next day of procedure. He was discharged home happily with 3 BP medicines that too at a lower doses. Hope he enjoys life like his peers, breaking the multiple medicine barrier.

1st TAVI/TAVR after official name change from “Medica SuperSpecialty” to “Manipal EM Bypass” Hospital. It was a Bicuspid Aortic Valve severe stenosis, done with self expanding valve. Procedure went extremely smooth. Patient walking around next day morning.
Hope to maintain the legacy even in a better way!

2 TAVR in a single day. Despite the challenges, both came out with flying colours! Accurate Neo 2 and Myvalve were deployed. For 1 patient, the large bore access was closed using Manta Device.

TAVR, or Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement, is a minimally invasive procedure used to replace a narrowed aortic valve that isn't opening properly. Instead of open-heart surgery, doctors insert a new valve through a catheter, typically via a small incision in the groin or chest. This approach is often used for patients who are at high risk for traditional surgery.
