Leprosy is curable โ but only when detected on time.
Every year, ~200,000 new leprosy cases are reported globally. The disease is fully treatable, yet delayed diagnosis can lead to nerve damage and lifelong disability.
Watch for early signs:
Light or reddish skin patches with reduced sensation
Numbness or tingling in hands/feet
Muscle weakness
Non-healing wounds
Doctorโs advice:
If you notice any unusual skin changes or loss of sensation, consult a dermatologist immediately. Early treatment stops transmission and prevents complications.
On this Anti-Leprosy Day (30 January), letโs choose awareness over stigma.
