ട്രാവൻകൂർ മെഡിസിറ്റിയിൽ അതിസങ്കീർണമായ ശസ്ത്രക്രിയയിലൂടെ 5.75 കിലോഗ്രാം ഭാരം വരുന്ന അണ്ഡാശയ ട്യൂമർ നീക്കം ചെയ്തു. 70 വയസ്സുള്ള സ്ത്രീ കഴിഞ്ഞ നാല് മാസമായി തുടർച്ചയായുള്ള വയറുവേദന മൂലം പല ആശുപത്രികളിൽ ചികിൽസ തേടുകയും വിവിധ പരിശോധനകൾക്ക് വിധേയയാകുകയും ചെയ്തു. തുടർന്നുള്ള സ്കാനിങ്ങിൽ മാരകമായ അണ്ഡാശയ ട്യൂമറിന്റെ സാന്നിധ്യം കണ്ടെത്തുകയുണ്ടായി. പെട്ടെന്ന് തന്നെ, അവരെ തിരുവനന്തപുരം ഗവൺമെന്റ് മെഡിക്കൽ കോളേജിലേക്ക് റഫർ ചെയ്തു.
എന്നാൽ സൗകര്യാർത്ഥം കൊല്ലം സ്വദേശിയായ രോഗി, ട്രാവൻകൂർ മെഡിസിറ്റിയിൽ എത്തിച്ചേരുകയും തുടർന്ന്, ഗൈനക്കോളജി വിഭാഗം പ്രൊഫസർ എമെറിറ്റസ് ഡോ.ഷീലാ മണിയെ കൺസൾട്ട് ചെയ്യുകയും, വിശദമായ നിരീക്ഷണത്തിനു ശേഷം വിദഗ്ദ്ധ
പരിശോധനക്കായി സർജിക്കൽ ഓൺകോളജിസ്റ് ഡോ. മിഥുൻ മോഹൻദാസിൽ നിന്ന് അഭിപ്രായം നേടുകയും , തുടർന്ന് അടുത്ത ദിവസം തന്നെ എക്സ്പ്ലോറേറ്ററി ലാപ്രോട്ടമി (വയറുവേദന അല്ലെങ്കിൽ പെൽവിക് ഭാഗങ്ങളിലെ വേദനയുടെ ഉറവിടം കണ്ടെത്താനും രോഗനിർണയം നടത്താനും ഉള്ള ഒരു ശസ്ത്രക്രിയാ പ്രക്രിയയാണ് എക്സ്പ്ലോറേറ്ററി ലാപ്രോട്ടമി ) എന്ന ശസ്ത്രക്രിയക്കായി രോഗിയെ ഓപ്പറേഷൻ തീയേറ്ററിലേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുപോവുകയും ഉണ്ടായി.
