"Aristas and Asavas"
They are self generated herbal fermentations of traditional Ayurvedic System. The method of preparing asavaristas is known as "Sandhana Kalpana".
They have indefinite shelflife and it was said that the "older the better it is". Asavas are prepared by direct use of fresh herbal juices or herbs soaked in water and Aristas are prepared with decoction of herbs in boiling water.
Fermentation is brought by addition of source of sugar with Dhataki Pushpa( Woodfordia fruticosa) flowers. They are moderately alcoholic (upto12%) sweet in taste with slight acidity and aroma. Fermentated alcohol facilitate extraction of active ingredients from herbs, better shelf life, and enhanced therapeutic properties.
