Reach us by taxi/ rickshaw with short walk up to the centre. We offer local trips during your stay. Kerala is a beautiful place with a wealth of amazing scenery and local culture. After two years of covid closure it's been great to get the yoga centre back up and running. Thanks as ever to our Manager Halin and all our staff team, and yoga teachers and guests for visiting Palm Tree Yoga Centre and for all the positive feedback received about the new rooms and improvements.

An extra special thank you for our amazing manager Halin who decided last year that he would leave Palm Tree at the end of this season. Halin has been with us since the very beginning of Palm Tree and a family friend for more than 20 years. His hard work and dedication over the years is legend and he will be much missed. He's a hard act to follow and a special extra thanks to him for working with new Manager Ratheesh since January to show him the ropes. We wish Halin nothing but love and great success in any new ventures. 💚🌴💚

Our Story

We’re Joy and Emma Kumar - who met on Samudra Beach, Kovalam in February 1998. I (Joy) was working as a life guard and Emma was on her first visit to India. I introduced Emma to all the area has to offer – my mum’s home cooking - fresh vegetable curries and seafood, the tranquil calm of the local backwaters and the colourful crowds of Trivandrums’ Chalai Bazaar. Emma introduced me to her home town of Brighton, where we live and work with our two daughters.

To keep our connection with family and friends in Kerala, we initially built an apartment for family trips to my home, then recognized that the peaceful bay with its stunning sunsets over the sea, is to good not to share. In 2011 we opened Palm Tree house and in 2012 teamed up with Free Spirit to provide yoga holidays in a peaceful setting - that give you the opportunity for peaceful practice, rest and relaxation and to explore colourful Kerala. We love good fresh food and opened our Curry Leaf Restaurant to provide authentic Keralan food for our yoga guests and visitors to the beach. There is also an Ayuverdic massage centre on site to soothe you after your flight - or at any time during your break.

We visit Palm Tree as often as we can and are proud of our lovely staff who will welcome you to Palm Tree Yoga and apartments and Curry Leaf, and look after you during your stay.
