Under NMBA JKSPYM, the District Drug De-addiction Centre Kulgam organized a one-day awareness program on “Communication Skills” at Haji Aalim U Din Public High School, Damhaal Hanjipora. The main objective of the program was to help students understand the importance of effective communication in building confidence, improving relationships, and enhancing academic and personal growth. During the session, students were guided on how to express their thoughts clearly, listen actively, and develop positive body language. Interactive discussions and practical examples were used to engage participants and strengthen their communication abilities. Under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA), the JKSPYM District Drug De-addiction Centre Kulgam organized a one-day awareness program on the prevention of drug abuse and the harmful effects of peer pressure at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), Banimullah. The program aimed to sensitize students about the rising menace of drug addiction and how peer influence can play a critical role in shaping one’s decisions and behavior.

The session began with an introductory address by the resource persons from the District Drug De-addiction Centre, who explained the objectives of NMBA and its efforts to promote a drug-free society. They emphasized that awareness and education at an early age are key to preventing substance use among youth. Through interactive discussions, real-life examples, and group activities, the students were made aware of the psychological, physical, and social consequences of drug abuse.

Special focus was laid on understanding the impact of peer pressure, how it can lead to experimentation with drugs, and strategies to resist it. Under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA), the JKSPYM District Drug De-addiction Centre Kulgam organized a one-day awareness program on “Early Prevention of Drugs” at Al Hilal Residential Educational Institute, Chawalgam Kulgam. The main objective of the program was to sensitize students about the dangers of substance abuse and to promote awareness regarding early prevention and healthy lifestyle choices.

The session began with an introduction about the ill effects of drug addiction on an individual’s physical health, mental well-being, academic performance, and social relationships. Resource persons from the centre highlighted the significance of early intervention and the role of youth in creating a drug-free society.

An interactive session and group discussion were conducted with the students, where they actively participated and shared their thoughts on how peer influence and community awareness can help in preventing drug abuse. On the occasion of June 26 – In observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Drug De-Addiction Centre Kulgam organized a comprehensive awareness program and rally aimed at educating the public about the dangers of substance abuse and promoting a drug-free society.

The event was held under the active support of the district administration and was graced by Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Mr. Athar Aamir Khan (IAS), as the chief guest, along with Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Viqar Ahmed Giri (KAS) as the guest of honour.

Addressing the gathering, DC Athar Aamir emphasized the urgent need for collaborative efforts to tackle drug addiction at both grassroots and institutional levels.

"Drug abuse is not just an individual's problem; it is a societal challenge. We must fight it with awareness, compassion, and strong institutional support," he said.

ADC Viqar Ahmed Giri, in his remarks, highlighted the importance of early intervention and youth engagement:
Our youth need guidance, purpose, and support. Awareness programs like this play a crucial role in prevention and rehabilitation."
The program featured informative sessions by medical experts and counselors from the Drug De-Addiction Centre, who spoke on the psychological, physical, and social consequences of drug use. They shared insights into treatment protocols, counseling strategies, and community-based rehabilitation efforts.

A rally was also organized as part of the awareness drive, with enthusiastic participation from recovering patients, volunteers, social activists, students, and local residents. Participants carried placards with powerful slogans like “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life”, and “Your Life Matters – Choose to Live Drug-Free.
