The main motive of this page is to spread awareness of importance of dental health among people in their day to day life and educate people so that the Dental Health Care Awareness reaches easily to more and more people, more specifically in semi-rural and rural areas….. The important thing for people to learn is the importance of dental health in relation to their overall health. There are many dental diseases which affect overall health of a person and vice versa. For eg. Periodontitis commonly known as Pyorrhea (infection of gums and bone surrounding the teeth) by increasing blood viscosity becomes a risk factor in causation of Heart diseases (Ishemic Hearth disease), where a dental disease affect overall health. Whereas on the other hand, a diabetic (blood sugar) patient is at more risk in developing Periodontitis or pyorrhea than in otherwise normal person. Here, overall health affects dental health. According to general conception, dentistry may not be considered as life-saving practice by people. However its true that it solves or improves appearance, pain and chewing related issues but in many circumstances dentistry plays a role in preventing life-threatening conditions like Brain Abscess (Accumulation of Pus in brain), where it serves the purpose of saving life indirectly, if not directly. The need of dental care spans from starting within the womb i.e from formation of milk teeth and through out life of a person. Earlier the oral health was not given much importance by people most probably due to lack of awareness and persistent illiteracy. But now due to improvement in education and awareness, people seem to take better care of their oral health. Though, even today there is a huge population which requires proper Dental Health Education or otherwise called as “Dental Patient Education”.
