Timely Treatment Gives a New Lease of Life to a 25-Day-Old Newborn
A 25-day-old newborn girl's lungs suddenly collapsed, causing severe breathing difficulties and leaving her family in deep distress. Upon recommendation, the family brought the infant to Adesh Hospital, where they met Dr. Tanvi.
Medical examinations revealed that the baby’s diaphragm muscles were significantly weak, which was the root cause of her respiratory struggle. The doctors performed a surgery, which was successful. Following the procedure, the baby’s lungs began functioning normally, and she was successfully taken off the ventilator.
The Pediatric Department and the Anesthesia Team played a vital role throughout this treatment. The family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and the entire medical team for providing the right treatment at the right time and giving their child a new lease of life.

World Kidney Day Awareness Program Held at Adesh Medical College & Hospital

On the occasion of World Kidney Day (12 March 2026), an awareness program was organized at Adesh Medical College and Hospital, Mohri under the theme “Kidney Health for All – Caring for People, Protecting the Planet.” The program was jointly organized by the Department of Community Medicine and the Department of Medicine.

The event began with an awareness rally in which doctors, staff, and students participated to spread messages about kidney health and prevention of kidney diseases.

During the program, Dr. Guntas Gill (Director) emphasized early detection and prevention of kidney diseases, while Dr. Gursatinder Singh (Medical Superintendent) highlighted the increasing burden of kidney disorders and the importance of regular health check-ups. Dr. Vikrant Prabhakar, HOD, Department of Community Medicine, spoke about the role of public health awareness. Dr. Arvind Kumar Gupta, Consultant Nephrology, and Dr. Sourabh Gupta, Consultant Urology, shared important information on kidney care and preventive measures.

A poster competition was also organized to promote awareness among students, and the winners were awarded certificates and prizes.

The program was conducted under the leadership and guidance of Dr. Vikrant Prabhakar (Professor & HOD, Community Medicine), Dr. Arvind Kumar Gupta (Consultant Nephrology), and Dr. Sushil Dalal (Professor, Community Medicine).

World Hearing Day, was observed by the Department of ENT & Head and Neck Surgery at Adesh Medical College and Hospital on March 3rd 2026.
In alignment with the WHO theme “From communities to classrooms: hearing care for all children ”, the event featured poster presentation prepared and presented by enthusiastic interns and undergraduate students. Their posters addressed key topics including various forms of hearing impairment, specific learning disorder (Dyslexia), Autism and fluency disorder (Stammering).An expert panel of judges carefully evaluated the scientific content, clarity, design, and relevance of each poster. Outstanding contributions were recognised and awarded in appreciation of the student’s dedication and academic excellence.
The Event also show cased an Audio-Video Presentation highlighting the symptomatology and cure of the various aspects of Hearing impairment /Autism/Dyslexia and Stammering.
This event was graced by the esteemed presence and inspiring addresses of our Honorable Chairman Dr. H.S. Gill, Director Dr. Guntas Singh Gill, Principal Lt. Gen. Dr. Navdeep Singh Lamba, and Medical Superintendent Dr. Gursatinder Singh. They emphasized on the critical importance of hearing preservation and urged proactive measures to prevent auditory impairment.
The program was meticulously organised by the Department of ENT & Head and Neck Surgery under the able leadership of HOD Dr. G.P.S. Gill and his committed team. They effectively disseminated knowledge on etiologies of hearing loss, evidence-based preventive strategies, and the necessity of routine audiometric surveillance.
The Director, while addressing the gathering emphasized the importance of early detection of Hearing Impairment.
The Chairman, in his addressing congratulated the department of ENT For organizing such activity and encouraged the department to extend all such facilities in the nearby and surrounding villages.
This initiative underscored the importance of early detection and multidisciplinary management of communication disorders in children.
