“I became the first man in the world to reach Leh by Chetak Scooter. I started my journey from Hisar. It took me 16 hours to reach Leh from Srinagar via Zojila Pass (One of the coldest places in the world). In Leh, the air was thin with less oxygen. Despite the conditions, I stayed there for two days and applied to the authority to grant me permission to touch the highest road of the world. This picture is from the point in my journey where I successfully touched the highest road in the world during those times. Best part about my journey was my return to Hisar in 42 hours driving continuously for 734 kms. I am almost 60 years old now but this experience continues to bring joy to me even today”

Outlook Travelers on Thursday awarded the gold award for 'Best Wildlife Destination in India' to Kaziranga National Park and Assam Tiger Reserve.

Outlook Traveler presented Gold Awards to Padmapani Bora, Managing Director, Assam Tourism Development Corporation and Maninder Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Assam Tourism Outlook Traveler Awards Parallel, Outlook Traveler presented awards to three other states of Northeast India . The gold awards for Peling and Kanchenjunga, which won the 'Best Scenic Destination' from Gangtok and recognized as 'Best Mountain/Hill Views Destination in India', were Sikkim's Tsomgo Lake and Nathu-La Pass.

The other two states in Northeast India that received silver awards were Meghalaya for Maulinong village, which was awarded "Best Eco-tourism Destination in India", and Nagaland, where Khonoma, India's first green village Angami Naga village was named "Best Offbeat Destination" in India.
