Aurangabad field study note - Displaced community , watershed and goat as livelihoods - In most of watershed , for landless families goat is taken as a means to support livelihoods. However one of critical component of watershed to plant trees and shrubs to reduce soil erosion , conserve soil moisture has high stakes of goat farmers. For sustainable goat farming , tree plantation is critical and it has huge economic sense.
Local area has kids getting 6 kg weight within a week of birth and potential adult weight of 60 kg.

Plantation drive for fodder plants can be most sustainable intervention as these goats in closed watershed needs only proper nutrition to make this cluster able to produce estimated INR 35 crore of goats by five identified villages and on sustainable basis if 20 fodder plants per family can be managed .....

Field study of goat based enterprises @ Aurangabad - Drier the region ,larger is the goat breed in size and shape. Goats are perhaps adapted well to supplement farmers income in dry land areas. Studies here shows high potential to invest in kids nursery or fattening as breed is of good size and with a bit of selective breeding , bucks of more than 40.kg live body weight at 12 months can be produced fetching RS 10000 per buck and having 40% net profits ....however crop selection to suit goat farming like guar , Jowar and pulse cultivation along with present focus on cotton need to be taken up .... Goat kids Nursery as an alternative rural enterprise we started 8 years back and our data shows we found over 8000 promoted unit of 10 as on average earned RS 25000 in six months as women earned net income ....With partnership of new local.organisation here , Company assess high potential to train 100 women on this concept ...

गाय भैंस ही नहीं बकरियों के नस्ल म सुधार भी बढ़ा सकता है किसानों की आमदनी - बकरियों सवा साल में दो बार मेमने देती है और दो से तीन मेमने पैदा कर सकती हैं अतः आनुवंशिक सुधार तेजी से होता है ।
