🩸 NEWBORN SCREENING: DON’T SKIP IT
Your baby may look healthy — but some serious diseases are silent at birth.
👨‍⚕️ Dr. Aakash Pandita
Pediatrician
🔍 What is it?
A simple blood test done at 48–72 hours after birth.
⚠️ Why important?
It detects conditions like:
• Congenital Hypothyroidism
• Phenylketonuria (PKU)
• Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH)
Early detection prevents brain damage, organ damage, and even death.
❗ Always ask before discharge:
“Has my baby’s newborn screening been done?”
One small test. One saved life.

👶 Baby’s Soft Spot – Normal or Not?
Dr. Aakash Pandita | Pediatrician
Noticed a soft, slightly pulsating area on your baby’s head? That’s the fontanelle — and it’s completely normal ✅
It helps your baby’s brain grow and usually closes by 12–18 months.
🚨 See a doctor if:
🔹 It looks sunken + baby feeds less, passes less urine, or seems sleepy → Could be dehydration.
🔹 It looks bulging + fever or illness → Could be serious infection.
🔹 It hasn’t closed after 18 months → Needs evaluation.
💛 Reassurance
✔️ Touching, oiling, bathing is safe.
❌ Don’t apply home remedies to “close” it.
Save & share with parents and grandparents 🤍

🚨 When Should You Rush to the Hospital After a Child Falls?

👶 Children fall often while playing — and not every fall is dangerous.
But certain warning signs should NEVER be ignored.

👨‍⚕️ Dr. Aakash Pandita | Pediatrician

⚠️ 5 Emergency Warning Signs:

1️⃣ Excessive Swelling
Rapidly increasing swelling, especially on the head.

2️⃣ Bleeding That Won’t Stop
Bleeding that continues even after applying firm pressure for 5–10 minutes.

3️⃣ Loss of Consciousness
If the child faints or loses consciousness — even briefly.

4️⃣ Reduced Responsiveness
Child is unusually drowsy, confused, not responding normally, or difficult to wake.

5️⃣ Seizures
Any jerking movements, stiffness, or abnormal body movements after the fall.

❗ Important Note:

Not every fall requires a CT scan or X-ray.
Unnecessary imaging exposes children to radiation — and should only be done when medically indicated.

When in doubt, consult your pediatrician.
