An ancient tree, standing in silence, yet teaching everything.
Its roots spread wide, thick and tangled, gripping the earth with unwavering devotion. Each root tells a story of time, storms, droughts, and survival.
In yogic wisdom, roots symbolize Muladhara — the root chakra.
This is where stability lives. Safety. Belonging. Trust in life itself.
A tree with deep roots does not fear the changing seasons. In the same way, when our inner foundation is strong, life’s chaos cannot shake us. Yoga reminds us: grounding is not weakness — it is power.
The yogis say that true growth does not begin upward, toward success or recognition, but downward, into stillness, discipline, and self-awareness. Just as this tree has allowed its roots to disappear into darkness, we too must be willing to sit with silence, fear, and uncertainty. Only then does strength emerge.
Neuroscience quietly agrees.
Our nervous system is designed the same way. When we feel safe and grounded, the parasympathetic nervous system activates — calming the mind, regulating emotions, and allowing clarity to arise. Trauma, stress, and constant stimulation pull us away from our “roots,” leaving the brain stuck in survival mode. But grounding practices — breath, awareness, presence — rewire the brain, strengthening neural pathways of resilience and emotional balance.
Each root is like a neural connection.
The more connections, the more stability.
The deeper they go, the stronger the system becomes.
This tree does not rush. It does not compare. It does not resist time.
It simply stands, rooted in truth.
A reminder for us all:
Grow, but stay grounded.
Expand, but remain connected to your source.
Because when your roots are strong, no storm can uproot your peace. 🌳
