As life expectancy increases, preventive healthcare after 65 is shifting from routine testing to personalised, clinically guided screening.

In a recent BBusiness Standardarticle, Dr. Monika Prabhakar, Group Head – Lab Operations (National & International Labs), MMetropolis Labs highlights the need to move beyond age-based protocols toward screening guided by individual health status, existing conditions, and risk profiles.

Quality diagnostics play a vital role in enabling timely, relevant screening—supporting early detection while avoiding unnecessary interventions.

At Metropolis Healthcare, we believe preventive care creates the greatest impact when it is personalised, evidence-based, and focused on quality outcomes across every stage of life.

Check out the article for more insights.

Experts explain which health screenings still matter after 65, which are often overused, and how personalised decisions based on health, frailty, and life expectancy can prevent unnecessary harm.

Our Managing Director, Surendran Chemmenkotil, recently participated in The Economic Times CEO Panel, “Future by Design: CEOs on Re-Engineering India’s Talent for the Age of Intelligence.”

Sharing a healthcare perspective on AI adoption and the future of work, he highlighted three key points:
• In healthcare, even 99.99% accuracy is not sufficient when lives are at stake. Human judgment remains non-negotiable in clinical decision-making.
• AI adoption should begin in functions such as finance, materials management and recruitment, where automating repetitive tasks can free teams for higher-value work.
• CHROs must plan for tomorrow’s capabilities, not just today’s roles. As job lifecycles compress from eight to ten years to potentially just one to two years, organisations must prioritise hiring and developing talent with adaptability and agility at the core.

Genomics in India has reached a pivotal moment, moving beyond specialised testing to become an integral part of everyday clinical decision-making. From oncology to reproductive health, genomic insights are shaping how diseases are diagnosed, treated, and increasingly, prevented.

Yet the real shift is not about access alone. It lies in interpretive maturity, translating genetic data into meaningful clinical action and scaling responsibly with evidence, expertise, and strong clinical
frameworks.

Our Promoter and Executive Chairperson, Ms. Ameera Shah, shares her perspectives in a piece for Hindustan Times on India’s evolving genomics landscape, reflecting on the progress made, the realities of population-scale screening, and the responsibility that comes with rapid adoption.

A timely reminder that in genomics, evidence must always lead adoption, not enthusiasm.

Thyroid disorders are increasingly common in India, yet many people may not recognise the subtle early signs until the condition progresses.

In this insightful article by TThehealthsite.com Dr. Smita Hiras Sudke, Regional Chief of Lab, Metropolis Healthcare Limited (Pune and Rest of Maharashtra), outlines the early warning signs of hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism—conditions that can significantly impact metabolism, energy levels, mood, and overall wellbeing.

She highlights that symptoms of an underactive thyroid may include fatigue, weight gain, cold intolerance, and dry skin, while an overactive thyroid can present with weight loss, heart palpitations, heat intolerance, and nervousness. As these signs often overlap with everyday stress and lifestyle factors, they are frequently overlooked, underscoring the importance of routine check-ups and targeted thyroid function tests for early detection and timely care.

Know the early signs of thyroid problems in India, including symptoms of hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism, causes, risks, and when to seek medical care.

“AI will transform healthcare, but trust will always lead it.”

At the , our Promoter and Executive Chairperson, Ms. Ameera Shah, spoke to NDTV on how artificial intelligence is reshaping diagnostics, especially in preventive care and early disease detection.

She highlighted that today, AI’s strongest impact lies in screening and radiology, helping doctors filter clear normal cases so they can focus on complex, high-risk ones and improve productivity.

In preventive healthcare, AI holds the power to lower screening costs and expand access. However, when it comes to confirmatory diagnosis and treatment, human expertise, accountability, and reliability remain non-negotiable.

Ms. Shah emphasized that innovation must move forward responsibly, with patient trust always at the centre of care.

As diagnostic laboratories adopt higher levels of automation, the approach to quality control is evolving in meaningful ways.

In this article authored by Dr. Kirti Chadha, Chief Scientific and Innovation Officer, Metropolis Healthcare Limited, she emphasises how internal quality control is moving beyond periodic checks to more continuous, real-time, and risk-based systems. With rising test volumes and increasing complexity, these frameworks help ensure that speed and efficiency are matched by accuracy and reliability.

The article underscores that in the automation era, quality control must be embedded across every stage of the testing process. Strong, adaptive quality systems play a critical role in the early detection of deviations, standardisation, and safeguarding patient outcomes.
Check out the highlights to learn how innovation and quality control are coming together to shape the future of diagnostic laboratories.
