Powerful Gyaan

Powerful Gyaan We wish to empower members of our society with powerful knowledge about various health issues, so th We run on public donations.

Through this page we wish to bring to you valuable knowledge published in medical journals in simple language, so that you feel empowered to make better health and lifestyle choices. We collaborate with various doctors having a rich experience in their field so that you get knowledge that you can trust. Till recently, our focus had been to bring before people evidence about the true consequences of using alcohol and tobacco. This is because even though they are 2 of the most common risk factors for death and disability in young people, their use continues to be popular due to prevalent misconceptions. You can find useful resources regarding them on our website www.poisonswelove.org and social media handles as well. Now July 2022 onwards, we have decided to bring before people valuable knowledge regarding other important physical and mental health issues as well. Please do share our dream of a healthy, happy & powerful society. Do show us your love and support by sharing these resources widely in your circles. If you would like to contribute financially please let us know

For Shimanti Das, the loss of her teenage son to cancer was a nightmare that could have easily broken her. Instead, she chose to channel her profound grief into a mission of hope for the most vulnerable members of society. Despite facing personal hardship, including a divorce when her husband did not support her vision, Shimanti remained undeterred in her goal to keep her son’s memory alive through education.
She established the Joyjeet Memorial School on the pavements of one of Kolkata's most notorious neighborhoods. By reaching out to the children of first-generation learners and those from families with criminal backgrounds, she provided a safe haven and a path toward a better life. Her dedication has transformed her from a grieving mother into a "universal mother" for hundreds of slum children, proving that even the deepest pain can be repurposed into a lasting legacy of love and literacy.

IIT Mumbai has made promoting emotional well-being a part of curriculum for its 1st year students, so that mental health challenges are prevented and students can thrive in their personal and professional life. Through its 'Flourishing Hub' they are conducting interactive workshops for their 1300+ 1st year students on 8 topics: Digital wellbeing, building resilience, cultivating healthy relationships, social impact and conscious citizenship, etc.

For substance use prevention topic they liked our module and Dr. Dharav Shah from our team delivered the presentation. It was a deep dive into the various ways in which alcohol, to***co, cannabis and other drugs decrease the quality of life and actually increase ones stress in the long run. Various popular misconceptions were answered and it was explained why it's best to not touch the 1st drink or the 1st smoke. It was well received by the enthusiastic, bright freshers 😎

5 presentations in IITs big auditoriums... all 1st years empowered with adequate knowledge before they face the peer pressure.... we are happieee 😇

(If you would like to give such presentations in your school/college or schools around you and want to get trained; or if you would like to help us with getting permissions, please get in touch. powerfulgyaan@gmail.com.
