Not all thyroid lumps cause cancer.

Most thyroid lumps (nodules) are benign (non-cancerous). In fact, only about 5–10% of thyroid nodules turn out to be cancerous. Regular evaluation with ultrasound and, if needed, FNAC helps identify the small fraction that require treatment.

Breastfeeding helps lower the risk of breast cancer by reducing lifetime exposure to certain hormones and helping breast cells mature normally.

However, it does not offer complete protection, and breast cancer can still occur in women who have breastfed. Regular screenings and awareness of breast changes remain essential, regardless of breastfeeding history.

Radiation treatment, earlier commonly referred to as “current treatment,” is a modern medical therapy used mainly to treat cancer. It works similar to an X-ray, using high-energy rays to target and destroy abnormal cells while protecting surrounding healthy tissue.

During the procedure, the patient usually stands or lies in front of a specialized machine that delivers radiation precisely to the affected area. Each session typically lasts about 10–15 minutes and is completely painless. The treatment is usually given over a course of around 25 days, depending on the condition and doctor’s advice. Radiation therapy is safe, carefully planned, and monitored by trained specialists for effective results.

Men can also get breast cancer because they have breast tissue, though it's much rarer (about 1% of cases), often leading to later diagnosis due to low awareness, but early detection for both sexes is crucial, with symptoms like lumps, discharge, or skin changes needing medical attention.

While sugar does not directly cause cancer, excessive intake of processed and refined sugars can lead to obesity and insulin resistance, which may increase cancer risk. Limiting processed sugar and choosing natural, whole foods is a healthier step toward overall well-being.

A healthy lifestyle definitely lowers your risk, but it cannot completely prevent breast cancer. Genetics, age, hormonal factors, and family history also play a major role. Eating well and exercising help reduce overall risk and improve recovery—but they do not eliminate the possibility of developing breast cancer.

Breast cancer may recur if you notice a new lump, skin changes, or swelling near the previous treatment area. Persistent symptoms like bone pain, cough, headaches, or unexplained fatigue can indicate spread to other organs. If any of these signs last more than 2–3 weeks, consult your doctor for proper evaluation and tests.
