We often see Dr. D Suresh Rao (Director, MIO) in the corridors of Mangalore Institute of Oncology, focused on complex treatments and critical decisions. But behind the life-saving expertise is a person who values the simple joys of life.

Whether it’s a moment of quiet reflection or pursuing a hobby, these pauses are vital. They recharge the compassion and energy needed to lead the fight against cancer every single day.

At MIO, we believe in holistic health—not just for our patients, but for our healers too. A balanced mind leads to the best care.

Here is a rare glimpse of Dr. Rao off-duty, reminding us all to take a moment for ourselves.

It wasn’t just a machine. It was a lifesaver.

In 2010, we installed a Medical Linear Accelerator that would go on to treat over 13,000 to 14,000 cancer patients. For years, it worked tirelessly alongside us, running from 4:00 AM to 2:00 AM the next day; giving hope to thousands of families.

Today, as we decommission this faithful workhorse, our team of 200+ staff came together for a touching thanksgiving. It’s hard to say goodbye to a member of the MIO family that gave so much life. 🕯

But as one chapter ends, a brighter one begins. Dr. D Suresh Rao (Director, MIO) shares that we are upgrading to a new, state-of-the-art machine worth ₹25 Crores to continue our mission with even greater precision and care.

Thank you for the service. Here is to the future of cancer care. 🙏

Turn up the volume and listen to these voices.

Hear the powerful slogans our dedicated staff and volunteers are raising—messages of hope, caution, and care. From "Healthy Habits, Healthy Life" to "Prevention is Power", and the vital reminder that "Early Detection Saves Lives", these are not just words; they are lifelines for our community.

This passionate display was the heartbeat of our recent Cancer Awareness Walk. Organized by the Mangalore Institute of Oncology (MIO) and the Sanjeevini Cancer Seva Trust, our team marched through the streets to bridge the gap between fear and knowledge. We stepped out of the hospital and into the community to ensure that every leaflet distributed and every slogan chanted brings us closer to a cancer-free future.
