Hi All...I just had some chips today from a pack of multigrain chips marketed as "baked not fried" ..this one is endorsed by a famous sportsperson with an interesting tagline in the add which goes - “Chips ka mazza, without chips ki ........”

Let me reveal a secret...The FDA found that baked potato chips contain about three times more acrylamides than traditional fried chips. These cancer causing chemicals are formed when high starch containing foods (potato, cereal grains etc...) are heated at high temperature...

Some more facts -
1. One ounce (about 15 chips) of baked potato chips has 14% fewer calories (153 vs. 131 in regular) is that a big difference??? not really...
2. 1 cup of baked potato chips contains 216 milligrams of sodium toward your daily upper limit of 1,500 to 2,300 milligrams of sodium, depending on your age and health status. Compared to regular potato chips, which contain 136 milligrams of sodium per cup, baked potato chips are the less healthy version.
3. The last issue with any salty snack is portion control. Mindlessly munching on a huge bag of baked or fried chips can mean loads of extra calories and fat.

So tip would be to make your own healthy snacks and munch on them guilt free but with portion control...

Few ideas:
🥜Roasted nuts which are low in carbohydrates, high in healthy fat content and rich in protein.
🌰Roasted Chana
🍿Homemade popcorn (salted less or not salted)
🥕Veggie sticks using carrots, betroots, cucumber etc..
🌽Steamed sweet corn with herbs or spice and lime...

Does the below shown chips talk about calories or sodium or acrylamides?
Give it a thought and do like, comment and share the post...Questions are welcomed🤗

With 6 years of experience in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics , I believe in the following quote - " If you eat your food considering it as medicine, you do not have to eat medicine like your food ". This is the principle with which I counsel my clients. It is important to eat right and not less always.

The customized diet plans and diet tips for various therapeutic conditions is thus given based on balanced nutritious diet and not based on restrictive or crash diet.
