Have you already put on your odd socks today?

Because sometimes, awareness begins with something simple.

Today we honour individuals with Trisomy 21—where chromosome 21 appears in triplicate instead of the usual pair. A small genetic difference that brings with it a unique way of seeing, feeling, and experiencing the world.

And that difference matters.

The “Rock Your Socks” campaign invites us to wear mismatched socks as a symbol: Not everything needs to match to belong. Not everything needs to be the same to be valued.

It starts conversations. It builds acceptance. It reminds us that diversity is not something to fix—but something to celebrate.

In my practice, I often see how each individual carries their own rhythm, their own strengths, their own sensitivities. Homeopathy works gently to support children and adults with Down syndrome—helping with immunity, development, emotional balance, and overall wellbeing.

We’ve been taught that bread, oats and cereal are a “good start.”
Metabolically, they act more like dessert.

A sugar-heavy first meal sends your body into a spike-and-crash cycle:

Sometimes healing looks like a simple plate of food.

My favourite go-to recipe is lemon rice. Learnt from my grand-aunt, who was a nun in North India. When she travelled to Goa by train — journeys that took 2–3 days — she would pack lemon rice in banana leaves, and it stayed fresh the entire way.

It takes very little effort and time to make, so on days when I can’t think anymore, this is what I cook. We enjoy it with a side of veggies, pickle, curd — or sometimes just plain.
