The myth-ventilator=money minting
In my journey as a physician I have come across this common lingual that "isme kuch bhi nahi tha bas paise banane ke liye ventilator par daal diya" so let us see the fact
1-who all will go on ventilator- isn't the person who is critical then why this pretense
2- Did you not consent for ventilation- obviously you did as you wanted the best for your relative and you equally wanted to take a chance for revival of patient
3 - For doctors the chances are 50:50 as they see a lot of patients and every day see deaths/survival so they will like to take the chance but for you chances are 0:100 as you have 1 patient only so you want to see miracles which do happen but rarely
4-if your patient survives -it was duty of the doctor no great deal but if patient succumb to the disease and efforts fail he did this for minting money
You forget that it was a joint effort which was with your consent to average your 0-100% somewhere to 50% in good faith.If ventilators were money minting machines why did engineers develop them for doctors use, why can't people file a PIL to scrap the ventilators all together from medical systems-be logical, ventilators are a support for care ,to fight till last and give a feeling that the person on bed is human and every thing best was tried but at last we all have to die but with best care.Give it a thought if you still think them as money minting machines next time don't consent for ventilation of you dear one if needed but do not blame the true efforts to salvage a life that is equally dear to both that is you and your doctor.
