Your socks might be silently harming your feet. 🧦⚠️

Those deep marks around your ankles? They could mean reduced blood flow. Poor circulation slows healing, increases infection risk, and in severe cases can lead to amputation — especially for people with diabetes or poor circulation.

Choose soft, non-tight socks. Your socks should protect your feet, not compress them.

Follow for simple habits that help keep your feet safe and amputation-free.

Amputation is not a disease — it’s an outcome.

Amputation is a medical procedure where a part of the body, such as a toe, foot, or leg, is surgically removed. It usually happens as a result of severe underlying conditions like uncontrolled diabetes, infections, poor blood circulation, or serious injuries.

In many cases, amputation is the final outcome when a disease or complication is not treated early. With timely diagnosis, proper treatment, and regular care, many amputations can actually be prevented.

👉 DM us if you notice symptoms like numbness, tingling, or a black wound on your feet. Early care can save your limb.

Cracked heels are not just a skin problem in diabetes — they can become an entry point for serious infections.

Reduced sensation and poor healing mean even small cracks can turn into wounds, ulcers, and in severe cases, lead to amputation if ignored.

Never ignore dry, cracked heels. Early care and proper foot protection can prevent life-changing complications.

Protect your feet. Protect your future.

Most amputations don’t happen suddenly. They start with small myths people believe every day.

No pain doesn’t mean no problem. Home remedies can worsen infection. And foot damage can happen at any age in diabetes.

Early medical care can save your feet. Delay can cost them.

If you notice any wound, discoloration, or delayed healing, don’t ignore it.

Doctors call the first 24–48 hours after a wound the “Golden Period.”
What you do during this time can decide whether the wound heals normally — or turns into a serious infection.

In the early stage, bacteria are still on the surface and damage can often be controlled. But when ignored or treated late, infection can spread deeper, damage healthy tissue, and increase the risk of limb-threatening complications — especially in people with diabetes.

Simple steps make a big difference:
✔️ Clean the wound with clean water
✔️ Keep it covered with a sterile dressing
❌ Avoid home remedies and delays

Early care protects tissue, preserves healing, and prevents avoidable amputations.

Diabetes and smoking are a dangerous combination — and your feet often suffer the most.

When you have diabetes, your blood vessels are already vulnerable. Smoking makes it worse by narrowing arteries, reducing blood flow, and slowing healing. This increases the risk of:

• Poor circulation in the legs and feet
• Delayed wound healing
• Higher risk of infections
• Diabetic foot ulcers
• Increased chance of amputation

Ni****ne damages blood vessels, while high blood sugar damages nerves. Together, they silently increase the risk of serious limb complications.

The good news? This risk is preventable.
Quitting smoking, controlling blood sugar, and regular foot checks can protect your limbs and your life.

Your feet carry you every day. Protect them.

Early action saves limbs. Awareness saves lives. Supported by Amputation Free India and Vascular Society for Limb Salvage.

A non-healing wound is a wound that doesn’t improve even after weeks of proper care.

If it stays open, doesn’t reduce in size, keeps discharging, or repeatedly gets infected — it needs medical attention.

Common in diabetes and poor blood circulation.

⚠️ Don’t ignore the signs. Early action can save a limb.
