Holi is a festival of joy for us, but for our pets, it can be a day of hidden dangers. From toxic chemicals to respiratory distress, what looks like “colorful fun” can quickly turn into an emergency.
🚨 THE HOLI EMERGENCY CHEAT SHEET (Save this! 🚩)
If the unthinkable happens, here is your immediate action plan:
COLOR IN EYES: Flush immediately with clean, lukewarm water for 10 minutes. Do NOT use human eye drops.
IF THEY LICK IT: Do NOT induce vomiting. This can cause more harm. Offer water or plain curd and call us immediately.
SKIN IRRITATION: Use only mild pet shampoo. NEVER use kerosene, spirits, or human soap to “scrub” the color off, it pushes toxins deeper into the skin.
DIFFICULTY BREATHING: Move them to a well-ventilated, powder-free room. Heavy panting or coughing is a major red flag.
ANXIETY: If they are shaking or hiding, turn on the AC/fan and play white noise to drown out the celebration sounds.
The Golden Rule: If you see “scared eyes” or “whale eye” (showing the whites of their eyes), your pet isn’t playing they are stressed.
Let’s keep the colors on the ground and off the paws! 🐾✨
