**Respected Shri Harpreet Singh Sudan Ji, IAS**
*Director General, Sports Punjab*

Sir,

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to you for providing me with such a wonderful platform to speak on the topic of **Massage Therapy**.

I would also like to convey my sincere appreciation to **Shri Jiwan Jot Singh Teja (Director, Training)** for organizing the presentation so efficiently. It was truly inspiring to see more than 150 enthusiastic athletes and sportspersons in attendance. I thoroughly enjoyed sharing my knowledge and experience with them.

What impressed me the most was the genuine curiosity and eagerness among the coaches and students—especially their keen interest in learning about **passive stretches** and how these techniques can help in healing sports injuries.

Sir, we can clearly see the sincere efforts you and your team are putting in to raise the standards of sports in Punjab. Under your dynamic leadership and able guidance, I am confident that Punjabi athletes and sportspersons will continue to scale new heights and bring many more laurels to Punjab and India 🇮🇳.

In the future, if your department or faculty requires any assistance or services from my side, I would be honoured to contribute in every possible way for the progress of sports in Punjab and the nation.

It was truly a pleasure interacting with the young, energetic sportspersons.

Warm regards,
Capt. Harveer Singh

A Personal Suggestion to My Patients & Well-Wishers:

I encourage you to read this article fully to understand common causes of body aches and pains.

Trigger Points are painful “knots” in muscles, often sensitive to touch. They can form from acute injury or repetitive strain, leaving muscles in a constant state of contraction. You may feel them as tight spots under the skin.

Common causes include:
• Overuse of muscles (especially with poor posture)
• Injury or trauma
• Mental stress

Additional triggers can include cold showers or exposure to air conditioning after being in heat. Though they feel refreshing, they may actually disrupt your body’s cooling system and worsen pain.

Here’s why:
1. The body maintains a core temperature of ~37°C. When overheated (e.g., ~39–40°C), the hypothalamus signals cooling mechanisms.
2. Heat is lost by:
• Radiation through the skin (60%)
• Sweating (22%)
3. To aid this, blood vessels dilate, allowing more blood (and heat) to move to the skin’s surface.
4. Cold showers or sitting in A/C reverses this effect—constricting vessels, reducing heat loss, and trapping heat around vital organs.

The result? Generalized aches—especially in the lower back, shoulders, neck, and legs.

Our Recommendation:
• Limit A/C use
• Take lukewarm showers
• Get regular therapeutic massages to speed up recovery and relieve trigger points.

Dear Amit , It was wonderful to share my experience & knowledge of massage therapy with your Box & Fit Gym. The experience was most welcoming and the Interaction with you, the staff members ( esp Boxing Head Coach Neema ) & club members was fabulous . I have given presentations in many Gyms but I must admit that the environment of the Box to Fit Gym was really exceptional and friendly. On entering the gym, you feel motivated to get involved in fitness activities . I thank all the participants of the Gym for listening to me & actively get involved in raising queries to clear their personal doubts regarding their body aches etc. I do hope my presentation would help all attendees to take steps to avoid sports injuries & if they do occur, then to resolve them on their own with the passive stretches exhibited to them . I Once again thank Amit for providing me such a good platform to speak about massage therapy. With open arms I accept Amit’s invite to visit his second Gym in New Chandigarh for the next presentation.
Warm Regards.

'It was a very informative session.
Thank you captain for taking the time out to come and expand our knowledge on a very vital part of training.
I will definitely organise a seminar at my second gym.
And will also motivate my athletes and clients to come visit you for any injuries, joints, ligaments or muscleaches.'- Amit

1. My Advice to my Patients & my well wishers is That *taking cold shower* or *exposure to A/C environment* on a hot day might be a bad idea . By doing so you might get relieved from heat but in reality, *it may not be helping the body to cool down.*
2. We all know our body ‘s temperature is around 37° centigrade. Due to heat when the core gets too hot, then the body ‘s regulating centre of the brain (Hypothalamus), our thermostat gets input from temperature sensors in skin & internal organs to activate our cooling system.
3. If the core temperature is around 39-40° centigrade for too long ,it starts damaging our organs. Thus our body takes two protective steps :-

(a) Firstly, the body starts radiating heat into the surrounding environment via our skin, hence 60 % of our body heat is lost.

(b) Secondly, by way of sweating 22 % of the heat is lost.

4. To support these, our *blood vessels dilate.*

5. This widening allows more blood to come closer to skin so that the heat inside the body is released.

6. Now if you go for a cold shower or sit in front of an A/C , you might feel nice but it is not reducing the core temperature. In fact, these two actions by us, reduce the blood flow into the upper skin. This will, therefore, effectively retain the heat in and around your organs . *This may lead to whole body aches or pains in the lower back, shoulders, neck , legs etc.*

7. **We strongly recommend less use of A/C & taking Luke warm water bath*
