Diabetic eye disease can cause permanent blindness in advanced stages. Vitrectomy surgery is the treatment in such cases.

Sharing pre and post surgery images of a patient with total retinal detachment secondary to diabetic retinopathy, successfully treated with vitrectomy surgery.

Macular holes are breaks in the central retina. They cause distorted vision or a black spot in the central field of vision. The treatment is vitrectomy surgery.

Ahead of World sight day (10th October, 2024), we tried to do our bit to spread awareness regarding diabetic retinopathy and avoid needless blindness. A simple annual eye check up is all it takes to avoid permanent vision loss and aggressive surgeries in diabetics. Do spread the word to your near and dear ones suffering from diabetes and give them the gift of sight.

Intravitreal (retina) injections can be an intimidating and recurring treatment for many retinal diseases. Our patient shares his experience with us almost a year after taking this treatment for a retinal swelling secondary to a retinal vein occlusion.

Diabetes can cause sudden and at times irreversible vision loss in the eye. We were fortunate enough to be able to save the eye of our patient who suffered diabetic eye disease - bleed and detachment of the retina.

Diabetic eye disease also known as diabetic retinopathy can be controlled without a surgery if treated in time. Do recommend an annual retinal check up to all your near and dear ones suffering from diabetes.

Extremely humbled to receive such a positive feedback from our patient operated for retinal detachment. Young patients too can suffer from this disease as a complication of a high glass power as in the case of our patient here. Timely surgery resulted in full vision recovery, however routine 6 monthly eye check ups are a must to avoid this sight threatening complication. (Video was posted with the patients consent).
