Have you ever spotted a SEAL?
(No, not the marine animal.)

A Superior Epithelial Arcuate Lesion shows up as a faint curved stain in the superior cornea and it can be easy to miss if you’re not looking for it.

What causes it?

🔹 High modulus lenses

🔹 Tight upper lids

🔹 Steep lens curves

🔹 Overwear or poor technique

Even if the patient feels fine, SEALs can quietly lead to irritation or epithelial breakdown if ignored.

The fix? Review lens design, material, wear time, and edge alignment.

And of course, track it all clearly in your EMR.

A stye is a red, painful lump on the eyelid margin. It is usually filled with pus. It can form on both the outer and inner sides of the eyelid. A stye typically goes away on its own. Warm compression may help in relieving the symptoms in cases of persistent styes. Severe un resolving styes can be excised using surgery. Consult an eye care practitioner if you are experiencing any symptoms.

Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) is a group of inherited eye diseases that cause degeneration of the light-sensing cells of the retina which leads to blindness. RP makes it difficult for the retina to respond to various light illuminations. People affected with RP have problems with night vision. RP progresses with a loss of peripheral (side) vision. Low Vision Aids along with Visual rehabilitation and Genetic counselling may help in improving the quality of life.
