During my childhood when my teachers, friends & parents used to ask me, what you want to be in your life when you grow up. My only answer was ‘Doctor’. It was pretty clear for me from very small age that I will become a Doctor. My parents are very religious followers of Ayurveda & I have seen their strong belief & love towards Ayurveda at many instances. Right from small episodes of cough & cold to high fevers, they always used to prefer Ayurveda formulations for me in childhood & I am the witness of their great choice.
As days passed, my interest in different herbs, formulations, home remedies nurtured & enhanced. I used to catch cough & cold very easily in childhood. My parents made me join a basic course of Yoga to improve my immunity & it worked very well. This boosted my confidence & love on Ayurveda & Yoga greatly. After passing 12th, I expressed my willingness to go to Ayurveda instead of choosing conventional Medical system. Unlikely my parents were extremely happy with the decision. I got admission to Government college at my home town. There I came across with all systems in human body & with time being naturally I realised my inclination & interest towards Gynaecology & Obstetrics compared to other subjects. Being a woman, I wanted to know more & more & also wanted help all other women around.
I studies both allopathy & Ayurveda books related to Gynaecology with great interest to keep myself updated with both latest & ancient knowledge.
After completing my under-graduation in Ayurveda Successfully, I started preparing & searching for the best college & exposure to Ayurveda treatments in Gynaecology.
I choose to go to South India for my post graduation in Gynaecology as I could clearly see the great level of acceptance & exposure to varied types of Ayurvedic treatments in Gynaecology in South. Admission to Udupi college in Karnataka was really a breakthrough. We as a PG students used to see more than 50 patients every day in OPD who will be treated with Ayurveda treatment protocols alone for gynaecological issues. This exposure boosted my confidence about effectiveness of Ayurveda in Gynaecology extremely. As this college was also having great exposure to all allopathic treatments also, I had a chance to study & learn all modern treatments in gynaecology right from hormonal treatments to surgeries & laparoscopies.
This was a very crucial time where I could see & compare positives & negatives of both the conventional system & Ayurveda. I could completely analyse the scenario that Gynaecology stream in Allopathy is a surgical branch & there is negligible scope for medicines due to great side effects of hormones. On the other hand Ayurveda has great scope, effectiveness & permanent cures with no side effects in Gynaecology.
I decided to work with only Ayurveda Gynaecology for the rest of my life. Further after completing my post graduation with good grades, I started planning for my own work place & many challenges came up. Some important challenges that I had noticed with other good Ayurveda practitioners were poor management skills, poor representation, clinics in the hostile environment, poor communication skills of Ayurveda practitioners to tune with modern mind etc. Working in Ayurveda Gynaecology space was my passion & dream. I decided to go for a proper management course to learn how to serve people better & to understand the need of the modern woman not only in India but even abroad. I went to Europe to complete my MBA for 1 &½ years & during this time I presented Ayurvedic Gynaecology projects in different classes. After completing MBA successfully I started practicing in Mumbai.
