On the occasion of National Nutrition Month 2025, Nutrition Exibition was organised by Diabetic OPD Sir JJ Group of Hospitals, Mumbai.The theme focused on "Eat Right Por for a Better Life: reflecting the commitment to promoting healthy eating habits among the people.Educational Posters and Slogans were displayed, which provided valuable information on various aspects of nutrition. Balanced diet plate for healthy individuals and for diabetic individual were displayed showing portion size and nutrient requirement.Organisers delivered nutrition talk followed by an interactive session.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of the Dr Lotika Purohit (Diabetologist), Dr Hemal Bhavani(RMO) and Dr Shrikant Pardhe(RMO). Arrangements were made by Senior Dietician Manisha Nirmal with the help of Dieticians Komal James & Dakshata Veling, Sister Vijaya, Interns Hemika Jain and Siddhi Dhumal as well as kitchen & OPD Servants.

The programme was graced by the Presence of Dr.Sunita Nagle Madam (HOD, ENT Dept) as well as Dr. Rewat Kaninde (RMO) sir.

🌟 On the occasion of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji’s birthday (17th September), the Namo Netra Sanjivani Health Campaign is inaugurated at JJ Hospital by by Dean Dr. Ajay Bhandarwar , Associate Dean Dr. Ranjit Mankeshwar , Vice Dean Dr Gajanan Chavan, Medical Superintendent Dr Sanjay Surase, Neurosurgery HOD Dr Vernon Velho, Ophthalmology HOD Dr Sujata Chahande and all other doctors and staff .👁️✨

This special initiative will continue till 2nd October – Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, with the goal of providing free eye check-ups, surgeries, and medicines to over 10 lakh citizens.

Under this campaign, patients undergoing cataract surgery will receive free spectacles, while diagnosis, consultation, and treatment for glaucoma and other eye disorders will also be provided at no cost. 🌸

व्यंग असलेला गर्भ +++काय करावे?

गर्भात व्यंग असलेले पालक खूप चिंतीती असतात. बऱ्याचदा गर्भातील व्यंगाचे निदान लवकर होत नाही. काही व्यंग तर गर्भ धारणेचे २४ आठवडे उलटून गेल्यावर निदान केले जातात. २०२१ साली गर्भपात कायद्यात सुधारणा करण्यात आली. त्यानुसार पूर्वी २० आठवडे पर्यंत असलेली गर्भपाताची मुदत वाढवून काही विशिष्ट परिस्थितीत २४ आठवडे पर्यंत वाढवली आहे. तथापि, २४ आठवडे उलटून गेल्यावर जर असे निदर्शनास आले की गर्भातील जन्मजात विसंगती जीवन जगण्या करीता सक्षम अशा नसतील किंवा जर मूल जन्माला आले तर ते गंभीर शारीरिक किंवा मानसिक अपंगत्वाने ग्रस्त असेल, तर अशा वेळेस मातेस सुखरूप गर्भपात करावा किंवा कसे ह्याबाबत आता मा. उच्च न्यायालयात धाव न घेता मुंबई येथील सर जे.जे रुग्णालयात उपलब्ध असलेल्या
“गर्भपात वैद्यकीय मंडळ” ह्यांच्या कडे अर्ज केल्यास गर्भवती मातेच्या सुरक्षेचा संपूर्ण विचार करून तगर्भपात बाबत योग्य तो निर्णय आपल्या करीता वैद्यकीय मंडळा कडून घेण्यात येतो. तरी संबंधित रुग्णांनी ह्याचा लाभ घ्यावा ही विनंती.

Day 7 of Anti-ragging week - workshop organized by Biochemistry department

The concluding day of Anti-Ragging Week was organised by the Department of Biochemistry, which conducted an insightful workshop on the theme of Anti-Ragging.
The programme featured two lectures:
• Dr. Mujahid Shaikh, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry, Sir J.J. Hospital, who spoke on the psychological and social impacts of ragging, emphasising its long-term consequences on mental health and academic performance.
• Police Inspector Anil Bhise, Sir J.J. Marg Police Station, who highlighted the legal dimensions of ragging, creating awareness about laws, punishments, and preventive measures.
The workshop was coordinated under the guidance of Dr. Rajshree and Dr. Smita Swami, Assistant Professors, Department of Biochemistry, with active support from residents Dr. Shashank Singh, Dr. Somesh Padole, Dr. Sutapa Banik, and Dr. Suhasini Arya, who assisted in organising the event.
With this engaging and informative session, the week-long Anti-Ragging campaign came to a close, leaving behind a strong message of zero tolerance towards ragging and reinforcing the institution’s commitment to a safe and respectful learning environment.

Day 5 of Anti-Ragging Week(16/08/2025) was observed with Slogan Writing and Digital Poster Competitions across the Departments of ENT, Ophthalmology, and the Institute of Nursing Education (INE).
In the ENT Department, MBBS students and interns actively participated in creating digital posters under the guidance of faculty members including HOD and Professor Dr. Chavan, along with Dr. Nagle, Dr. Bage, Dr. Kale, and Dr. Singh. The event highlighted the artistic contributions of students such as Dr. Usama Sayyaf, Dr. Rajat, Dr. Samiya, Dr. Pratiksha, Dr. Anuja, and Dr. Kaushik.
The Ophthalmology Department witnessed enthusiastic participation with the submission of 35 digital posters and 40 slogans. Both undergraduate and optometry students contributed actively, reflecting their strong support for the anti-ragging message.
At the Institute of Nursing Education (INE), more than 50 students showcased their creativity through impactful slogans and posters. The initiative was guided by Principal Ms. Vaishali Ghuge and Dr. Chikhalkar, HOD of Forensic Medicine, whose encouragement ensured the success of the event. The competitions were evaluated by Ms. Ghuge, & Dr. Sharad Pandit. Winners were felicitated with certificates in recognition of their originality and relevance.
The activities of the day not only showcased the creative talents of students but also reinforced a strong collective resolve towards fostering a ragging-free and respectful academic environment.

ANTI-RAGGING WEEK 2025 – DAY 4 15/08/2025

The Department of Pharmacology marked the fourth day of Anti-Ragging Week with a vibrant Logo Design Competition on the theme “Anti-Ragging”. The event drew enthusiastic participation from MBBS students, who showcased their creativity and commitment to promoting a safe and inclusive campus environment.

Throughout the competition, Professor and Head Dr. Shyamal Sinha, Associate Professor Dr. Abdul Hannan, and Assistant Professors Dr. Pranav Jadhav and Dr. Ajinkya Rawate guided and encouraged the students, fostering an atmosphere where artistic expression could thrive. Residents Dr Shubham Dhake and Dr Nancy Bansal coordinated the program

After a spirited display of artistic talent,
1) Mr. Prem Wadode secured the first prize,
2) Mr. Vishal Sarkate secured second prize
3) Ms. Anushka Pande secured third prize

The programme concluded on an inspiring note, reinforcing a strong message of unity, mutual respect, and zero tolerance towards ragging, as the institution continues its efforts to create a safe and supportive environment for all students.

Antiragging week day 3 14/08/2025

On the third day of the ongoing Anti-Ragging Week, the Department of Anatomy organised an Essay Writing Competition for undergraduate MBBS students. The event was conducted under the leadership of Professor and Head of Department, Dr. Ashwini Jadhav Madam, who guided and encouraged the participants throughout the programme.
Members of the Anti-Ragging Committee and faculty from the Department of Anatomy were present for the programme, lending their support to the initiative. The competition saw enthusiastic participation from students, and the best three essays were selected for commendation.
To further spread awareness, anti-ragging posters were prominently displayed in the department lobby, reinforcing the message of a safe and respectful academic environment.
The event concluded successfully, marking the end of Day Three of the Anti-Ragging Week celebrations.

As part of the ongoing celebrations of Anti-Ragging Week at GGMC Mumbai, the Institute of Nursing Education (INE) organised an Essay Writing Competition on the theme of anti-ragging. The event witnessed remarkable participation, with a large number of students enthusiastically contributing their thoughts and perspectives.

The competition was held at the Department of Physiology, under the coordination of the Institute of Nursing Education. Dignitaries from the Anti-Ragging Committee of Grant Government Medical College (GGMC) visited the venue to encourage the participants and to preside over the prize distribution ceremony.

The top three essays were adjudged winners and awarded prizes in recognition of their insightful and impactful writing. Adding to the spirit of the occasion, students and interns displayed anti-ragging placards at the venue, spreading awareness and reinforcing the commitment to a safe, respectful, and healthy campus atmosphere.

The programme concluded successfully, marking the end of Day Two of Anti-Ragging Week, with a strong message of unity and zero tolerance towards ragging.
