Rotunda Hospital is the world's first lying-in Hospital for women at Dublin, Ireland. Dr NK Allahbadia was the first Asian to get a Gold Medal there in 1953. Honarable Vijaylaxmi Pandit, the Indian High Commissioner for UK flew in from London to give away the Medal. At the time he promised his teachers there that if ever if returns to India and opens his own Hospital, he will name it after Rotunda
Hospital, Dublin. He returned in 1963 and started a small 9 bedded Hospital in Wadala, Mumbai and christened it Rotunda Nursing Home. In 1996, his son Dr Gautam N Allahbadia started India's first S***m Bank run to ASRM guidelines at the same site and called it Rotunda S***m Bank. In 2000, he founded a full-service ART Center at Bandra, Mumbai called Rotunda-The Center For Human Reproduction. In 2008, we founded India's first "Budget IVF" Center called Rotunda Blue at Dadar, Mumbai supported by a family charity registered with the Government of India "hARI" or Human Assisted Reproduction India at Rotunda Blue. Rotunda - the Center for Human Reproduction is now at Parel on the Sixth floor of Trust House on Hospital Avenue, in front of Global Hospitals and behind the ITC Grand Central Hotel. All fertility procedures are offered here by an experienced team of doctors, embryologists, endoscopists and paramedical staff.
