Dear Patient:
We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over
the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While
many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.
Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your
visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe
and comfortable. We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to
keep patients and staff safe.
Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA),
the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new
rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are
current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations.
You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help
protect our patients and staff. For example:
• Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be
asked those same questions again when you are in the office.
• We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also find
some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.
• You may see that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth,
since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.
• Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean
that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.
• We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well
as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.
We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the
steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. To make an appointment, please call
our office at office number or visit our website at web address.
Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our
patients, neighbors and friends.
Sincerely,
Dr. Sharmila Shinde

Dental Hospitals that continue performing elective procedures during the COVID-19 pandemic are irresponsible and short sighted. In Wuhan, one study showed 41% of new infections were transmitted in the hospital – to previously hospitalized patients and healthcare workers. If we learn anything from colleagues around the world who are forced to ration medical care, it’s that we must act swiftly to minimize unnecessary exposure to our Hospitals/Dental Clinics

Patients will die in this pandemic. So will doctors , (dentists), nurses and other healthcare workers. Cancellation of elective procedures is an important step to help flatten the coronavirus curve.
The COVID-19 thoughtful consideration.
cancelling procedures will cause a massive financial loss. As a result, some Dental hospital administrators may delay the decision to cancel elective cases, fearing the deep financial impacts this will have on the bottom line. Finances must, however, be a secondary concern. If we wait, it will cost significant human lives

Today, most Dental offices and surgery centers are not well equipped to deal with such kind of patients.
Dentists/ dental health care workers don’t have PPE’s . If Dentists are using Air rotors , scaler or physio dispensers then what about aerosols. On which surface / area will it settle down. So even if they wear mouth masks , face shields , gloves, disposable gowns etc . These things are not as protective as PPE . The sanitisation procedure which are done at dental clinics are not sufficient enough ( for eg. dental chairs , stools, tubings, walls , floor , ceiling, doors, door k***s, drawers, fans , air conditioners racks , foot mats , table tops , sofa sets , curtains/blinds, water coolers , chairs etc are not sanitised property ) .
If they say so they are just lying to themselves, associated health care workers and their patients.

Data from South Korea, where widespread coronavirus testing has occurred, indicates that an asymptomatic or mildly affected person who shows up even for elective surgery / dental surgery may actually be shedding lots of virus.

Dental Surgeons: please responsibly cancel your elective cases.

Dental Hospitals: Be leaders and support this process as fast as possible.

Patients: If your upcoming surgery/procedure hasn’t been cancelled, call your dentist and reschedule for the future.

when the pandemic is over, we will work just as hard to get all these surgeries/ procedures back on the schedule.

In the wake of the ongoing battle with coronavirus in our city,
its been observed that dental clinics can act as a potential medium of spread of the disease via the aerosols used in various dental procedures.
So in the best interest of the society, we, at
'Smile Dental Care', have decided to discontinue all elective and non emergency procedures till further notice.
We will be resuming back to full work flow soon .
Nevertheless, all emergencies will be attended to during this period. We are just a call away ,Feel free to call on 9833107414/ 9082836020 for scheduling your appointments.
Stay safe ! Say NO to panic ,YES to precaution !!

Neglecting oral health can cost you your overall well-being.

Your oral health is gateway to your overall health. But it is generally taken for granted a bit too much.

A smile with bright, shining, well aligned and more importantly well maintained teeth boosts your confidence but that's not all. It also keeps you away from many conditions affecting your general health.

Today let's see how it affects your heart.

The pumping station of your body which pumps life into your existence, your heart is always at risk from infections of teeth and gums.

Our oral cavity normally harbours lots of bacteria . When this bacterial count increases due to cavities or infections of gums, these bacteria enter our blood stream and travel to different parts of body including heart.

They cause infection of the inner lining and valves of the heart called infective endocarditis which may result in heart failure and other serious complications.

It's been a very very long time after I connected through my post the last time. When I sit back and think, thirty years in a profession is definitely a milestone . I have seen generations of patients, coming to me as babies with their parents to consult about first milk tooth appearing in their mouths and the same babies , grown up now bringing their babies for the same purpose.
Same is with dentistry. Dentistry has matured and evolved with time. It has changed its techniques from using a magnifying lens to locate a fractured root to using loupes and microscopes to see directly inside the root of the tooth.
Yet what has not changed is people's perception of dental treatment. They still consider it as a painful and treacherous process...
Not anymore. Don't be afraid of the demons of your imagination. In my next post I'll tell you about the risks one faces by neglecting oral and dental issues.
Bye for now
See you soon.

In my earlier post I have emphasized on importance of a good SMILE and to tell you how I can be of help to improve it may have sounded like starting from the end

I agree. My sequence is little wrong.
I should have given priority to healthy and strong teeth.

For healthy oral cavity what one needs first and foremost is awareness.

In my career of 30 years, I have observed that teeth are taken for granted a bit too much. They are the most abused part of the body. No attention is given to them till they start becoming victims of neglect and give out a cry of sharp pain. But by now it's too late. The damage is done and there is no mercy.

So guys take good care of your treasure of pearls.

I'll be back with some tips on how to maintain and secure your pearly whites.
Bye for now.
