Iron (haeme) works with Protein (globin) to make haemoglobin in red blood cells and carries oxygen to all parts of the body so it can perform its normal functions.

Role of iron in the human body -

1. Helps convert blood sugar into energy
2. Boost immune system
3. Supports healthy skin, hair and nails

Factors enhancing iron absorption-
1. Vitamin C rich foods (eg. lemon, citric foods,etc)
2. Fermenting foods
3. Cooking in iron kadhai.

Factors hindering iron absorption -
1. Polyphenols (found in tea/coffee) therefore to be avoided having it with meals.
2. Calcium - (found in milk and milk products)

Ingredients + Health Benefits:

- (I also call it miracle food) - how with just help of some water it grows and increases it’s nutrient value! Source of good proteins along with lots of vitamins and minerals that supports bone growth and faster cell recovery (perfect for Post Covid Recovery)

- the fibre along with essential vitamins helps in removing the waste toxins and supports cell growth (in short detoxifies the body)

- the essential fats present in them helps in easy absorption of all the nutrients to be supplied to the cells for the growth and repair to take place.

This meal can be had - post workout / post a stressful day / post covid (for recovery)

Pure, clean, health-giving and sacred.

Can be eaten -

1. As a snack between 10-11pm or between 4-6pm with jaggery/fruit

2. If having coconut water (nariyal paani) - best time is to consume post lunch - helps in regulating blood sugar levels and reduce bloating

3. As a chutney along with dhokla/ patras/ idlis/ dosa

4. Can add in stews or curries

Why eat green leafy vegetables 🥬?

Here’s what you need to know -

1. Packed with micro-nutrients like iron + folic + calcium + potassium, it helps in boosting hair growth and reduces skin pigmentation.

2. It’s rich in anti-oxidants and vitamin A, helps in recovery and restoration of body and brain cells.

3. Its high fibre content helps in reducing weight and improve overall gut health.

How to eat it to get maximum benefit -
Either make a sabzi OR add it to your curd OR Mix it in dal.

❌ Don’t buy commercially available green powders that claim to give health benefits!
