Here’s wishing you all a very happy and prosperous Akshaya Tritiya.

‘Akshaya’ means imperishable or eternal, that which cannot be destroyed. This is the reason it is said that the virtue acquired on this day is eternal and cannot be destroyed.

Few things to be observed and practiced on this day: -

1 - Buy gold today. If you cannot buy gold, then bring home silver Paduka of Goddess Lakshmi. Worship and keep them in the temple of your home. By doing so, this will ensure that you will always have wealth in your house.

2 –Donate sattu, sugar, curd, ghee, fruits, melon, silver, fan and clothes.

3 – Today one can perform any auspicious rituals and ceremonies without seeing the panchangs and muhurat like marriage, housewarming ceremony, purchase of land etc.

4 - Today is the best day to start any new work, office, business, institution and organization.

5 –Today is the day of birth of the three incarnations of Lord Vishnu in form of god Vamana, Parasurama and Lord Rama. Worship Lord Vishnu and recite Vishnu Sahasranama.

QUICK REMEDIES

Following are the remedies for malefic planets.

Sun – Put / immerse jaggery in flowing water or river especially on Sundays

Moon – As you go to sleep keep a pot filled with water near your bed ( towards your head side ) in night and in the morning throw that water in roots of a thorny tree like kikar tree or cactus plant or any other thorny tree or plant

Mars – Put / immerse till and gur rewadis (sweets made of sesame and jaggery) in flowing water or river specially on Tuesdays

Mercury –Throw a pierced copper coin in the flowing water especially on Wednesday

Jupiter – Bath by putting turmeric in the water

Venus – Bath by putting cardamom in the water

Saturn – Put / immerse coconut or raw coal in flowing water or river

Rahu - Put / immerse Barley (Jau) or raw cotton thread (Mauli) in flowing water or river

Ketu – Pour honey in flowing water or river

Navratri, this period of nine days is committed to reveling in the grace of feminine aspect of the divine. Feminine depicts the creativity, the fluidity, the resilience, the celebration, the understanding of the known and the acceptance of the unknown mystical in veneration. Sheer exuberance of dancing your way through life, be it birth, death or anything in between denotes the feminine. These days of Navratri are conducive for becoming receptive to different aspects of feminine within us through certain Sadhanas.

The first day of Navratri is dedicated to - Shailputri,the first form of Durga who is the daughter of mountain emperor - Himalaya. On this day, the sadhaka who seeks power, immortality and strength begins his sadhana by focusing his attention on Mooladhara, the center of tamas or inertia, the center of creation of life. Mother earth depicts inertia. She is the giver of life. Also, in the womb, the growth of the fetus happens in inertia.

So, first Navratri is the beginning of the sadhana where sadhaka needs to stabilise his Mooladhara to ensure his growth across inertia.

VENUS RETROGRADE IN PISCES MARCH 4 – APRIL 15

Venus, the planet of romance & harmony, beauty & aesthetics, unions & partnerships (business or personal partnerships), entered Pisces, its sign of exaltation, on January 27 for long transit which will ends on May 31. It will get into retrograde cycle from March 4th onwards. An exalted Venus in retrograde motion makes it a very unique transit, giving greater momentum to activities associated with Venus (as mentioned above).

The other important aspect of this transit is that the two great planets Venus and Jupiter are placed opposite each other and both are retrograde. One of the features of retrograde planets is an increase in strength, allowing them to give increased effects.

This period from March 4 to April 15 is of five weeks and it should be quite productive with reference to knowledge, wisdom and truth because of Jupiter and Venus facing each other and both retrograde. This is especially good for Ta**us, Gemini, Virgo, Libra, Capricorn and Aquarius ascendants.

Both these planets are associated with the material and transmit of knowledge will be retrograde also points toward it being a good time to review and reorganize the life and action to be taken in future depending on the lessons that have already been taken.
