Sankalp Rehabilitation Trust provides prevention, treatment, care & support to injecting drug-users. At Sankalp, we believe that if empowered, drug-users can make life-altering decisions. By treating them with care and compassion, by fostering a supportive environment and by developing their personal skills, drug-users can work towards a drug-free lifestyle. The turning point emerges when the user reaches deep within him to find the ‘Sankalp’ or ‘Resolution’ to change his life! In cases where total abstinence may not be an immediate achievable goal, Sankalp works on the philosophy of ‘Harm Reduction’, which refers to practices aimed at reducing the negative consequences associated with drug-use and other related risk factors such as HIV and AIDS. Several elements play an important role in the Harm Reduction program, through outreach programs and education, needle / syringe exchange, drug substitution, detoxification camps, counseling and continuous care, Sankalp helps overcome the dependency on drugs in users in a systematic and empathetic way. Sankalp promotes various skills training and income generation projects. Through various ventures, Sankalp provides various training programs ranging from computer training to handicraft-production skills, which enables drug-users to earn a modest livelihood. At Sankalp, it is our endeavor to counter stigma and acts of discrimination towards drug-users and to gather support to address the inhumane conditions that most drug-users and their families most often find themselves trapped in. Sankalp works with street based population and is committed to extend its reach to improve the quality of life of all those struggling with addiction to injecting drugs.
