How can we cope with social anxiety?

It starts with gentle, consistent steps - challenging those self-critical thoughts, taking small social risks, and allowing yourself to be imperfect.

Each time you pause, breathe, and choose a kinder perspective, you’re retraining your mind to feel safer in connection. Over time, these small shifts build confidence and ease.

You don’t have to do it all at once. Progress in social comfort often begins one small, courageous step at a time.

What are the effects of social anxiety and what kind of thoughts fuel it?

It’s not just about feeling nervous, it’s the way we think in social situations. Thoughts like labeling ourselves harshly, discounting our successes, assuming others are judging us, striving for perfection, or feeling like we’re constantly in the spotlight can all make social moments feel overwhelming.

Recognizing these thought patterns is an important step. They don’t define you, and with awareness and support, you can respond to them differently, creating more ease and connection in social situations.

Let's talk about social anxiety! This series is dedicated to raising awareness about its challenges and empowering those who experience it.

Social anxiety can feel like standing on stage in front of a packed audience, heart racing, palms sweating, even of there's no one there to judge. It's that voice in your head that whispers doubts and fears, making everyday interactions feel overwhelming.

WHAT IS ABT?
Arts-Based Therapy (ABT) is an integrated use of different art forms like music, drama, movement, dance, poetry, imagery, visual art, and storytelling to bring about healing, growth, and change and to achieve individualised goals in a therapeutic setting.
The basis of ABT lies in the deep-seated wisdom of Indian mind studies, Eastern psychology, Philosophy, and Modern science which makes ABT a useful and meaningful therapeutic practice that caters well to the Indian population.
WORLD CENTRE FOR CREATIVE LEARNING FOUNDATION (WCCLF) has created and developed the ABT course with the intention of systematically applying the art forms for therapy. The course faculty has undergone extensive in-depth training from WCCLF.
