Wishing you a happy and blessed Golu filled with joy, prosperity, and togetherness!
When Mahishasura, a powerful demon, terrorized the world, all the Gods and Goddesses representing various forces of goodness, united in solidarity. They pooled their divine energies to empower Shakti to fight against the evil forces. Shakti, in her different manifestations, destroyed demons like Dhumralochana, Chanda Munda, and Raktabija before finally defeating Mahishasura on the 9th night, which is celebrated on the 10th day as VijayaDashami, symbolizing the victory of good over evil.
The tradition of arranging Golu/Gombe during Navaratri symbolizes this very solidarity and collective power of the Gods and Goddesses. By displaying dolls that represent different mythological stories, divine beings, and scenes from various scriptures, Gombe showcases the gathering of all positive forces in the universe. Each tier or step in the Golu represents different aspects of divinity and goodness, with the central focus on worshipping Shakti, who embodies all these combined powers.
The nine steps on which the dolls are arranged symbolize the nine nights of Navaratri, where the Goddess is worshipped in different forms. These steps represent the gradual ascendancy of spiritual power and goodness, leading to the defeat of evil on the 10th day, VijayaDashami. In essence, by worshipping these divine figures and telling their stories, people believe they draw strength and positive energy into their lives, banishing negativity and inviting blessings.
So, keeping Gombe/Golu/dolls during Navaratri becomes not just a tradition but a reminder of the collective power of goodness and how unity can help overcome any evil, be it external or internal.
With lots of love, sending Navaratri wishes to you all🌸🌸🌸
