Alma Mater, a place of great pride
Walking through the portals of this great institution is sheer joy and pride to every student. As a family we go through the years – each milestone – graduation, post-graduation, postdoctoral studies, joining the faculty – saw fewer of us left behind. But the familiarity and cohesion remains. And the singleness of purpose continued in those who stayed behind, and in many who left to work for the name of their alma mater. Surely, the same cohesion, same sense of pride and purpose, the same feeling of belonging remain passed out to who join these great institutions along their career. Students feel that having come into GS, they have achieved their lifetime goal, and little realizing that now is really the beginning of a tortuous path, which may be littered with both successes and quite often failures on various fronts. The administration with various programmes like Shidori, Preceptorship take care of every aspect of stresses amongst new students. A hospital and medical college are much more than just beautiful edifices. What lies in it is infinitely more important than what shows out. Just accepting this may be an important first step. It’s the vision thing. Why to remain associated with your Alma Mater
In the earlier years, public hospitals were the first choice for the treatment by the citizens of Mumbai regardless of their economic status. This is no longer the case today. One of the reasons has been that the private hospitals offer better amenities for lodging and boarding. The resources in the private hospitals are only provided for the people who can afford it. A public hospital like ours, is succour to all the needy, in dire emergencies, economically challenged persons from all over the city, state and the country. The institution adheres to its motto “non sibi sed omnibus” “ NOT FOR SELF BUT FOR ALL”, takes care of all the patients known and unknown, irrespective of caste, creed, community, religion and boundaries of state providing the best medical treatment amidst strained resources including manpower. Nobody is turned away from the portal of this hospital who needs medical attention. As our alumni are actively contributing within and across the globe in the medical field academically – education and research, their knowledge, experience and wisdom will enhance the quality of education imparted to the medical students. To continue to carry out this noble work and progressively get better in all fields of medical education, medical care and research, we see a huge role can be played by Gosumec Alumini Association by promoting networking amongst the alumni and students for mutual progress and welfare of society. History of GOSUMEC Alumni Association
In order to provide fellowship to the past students and present medical staff and to promote advancement of medical and allied sciences and sports an association of alumni of these twin institutions was established as the “Past Gosumec’s Society” way back in 1947 when a few ex-students met at the All India Medical Conference. In March 1948 an appeal was sent to all past students of the college for the first time encouraging them to become members of the society. The Association published its first newsletter in June 1984. From time to time the Association has been involved in various creative activities and organizing orations etc. to foster collaboration between the past and present Gosumecs. The present activities of GAA
The process of registration of GAA with the charity commissioner was completed (F 36688, Mumbai dt:18.2.2009) & IT exemption (80G)u/s 12A registration has been obtained having No.TR/42609 dt: 16/9/09. GAA PAN No: AAB TG 2311D.

Resilience is the ability to dust ourselves off when we fall and move on with our life with relative ease. Though this may seem quite easy, the ‘dusting off’ sometimes requires us to change our negative beliefs, make difficult decisions, internally reflect on our values, express our emotions, and face our fears. Our natural capacity to heal can be elevated simply by educating ourselves with the best practices according to science. This speeds up our problem-solving abilities in stressful situations. Resilience is the ability to dust ourselves off when we fall and move on with our life with relative ease. Though this may seem quite easy, the ‘dusting off’ sometimes requires us to change our negative beliefs, make difficult decisions, internally reflect on our values, express our emotions, and face our fears.
