Lung cancer is often perceived as a disease that affects men more, but it is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women as well. In fact, it claims as many lives as breast, ovarian, and cervical cancers combined.
Early detection is critical, as symptoms can be subtle and easily overlooked. Awareness of risk factors such as smoking, exposure to secondhand smoke, and environmental pollutants along with regular health check-ups, can help in identifying lung cancer at an earlier, more treatable stage.

Lung cancer is a complex disease with different forms that behave differently and require tailored treatment. Broadly, it is classified into two main types: non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Understanding both the type and subtype of lung cancer is crucial, as it guides treatment decisions, helps predict disease progression, and allows healthcare providers to personalise therapies for the best possible outcomes. Early detection and accurate classification can significantly improve prognosis and quality of life for patients.
