Niramaya Health Foundation www.niramaya.org Mumbai, India’s most “modern” city, is perhaps best described as a paradox – the centre of opportunity and the locus of poverty.

Founded in June 2001
Niramaya Health Foundation is a non-profit, non-government, community health services organization, committed to improving the health of its communities. With thousands of people migrating into the city every month, a majority of its population living in urban slums constantly deals with issues such as unemployment, lack of water, poor or complete absence of sewerage and waste management facilities, pollution, and as a result of all these, very poor health conditions. Niramaya Health Foundation, founded in June 2001, is a non-profit, non-government, community based health services organization, committed to improving the health of these communities. Originally an endeavor of Pratham Mumbai Education Initiative (www.pratham.org) to improve the health of balwadi going children in August 1999, Niramaya has over the years changed its focus from primarily preschool children to one that covers different aspects of community health. Niramaya’s field areas in Mumbai include Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Mankhurd, Govandi, Wadala, Dharavi and Kurla on the Central Railway, and Kurar, Poisar and Madh on the Western side. Niramaya is also working with communities in the cities of Pune, Surat and Delhi, and in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Niramaya Health Foundation successfully hosted its Partners Meet & Greet Program on 21st November 2025 at the Garware Club House, Churchgate.
This special gathering brought together the donors and CSR partners who have supported Niramaya’s mission over the past 25 years. Their belief in our work has enabled us to impact the lives of lakhs of children and families across Mumbai.
The evening began with a heartfelt reflection on Niramaya Health Foundation’s 25-year journey—our milestones, learnings, and the collective efforts that shaped our path. We then heard inspiring experiences shared by our esteemed donors, whose continued support has strengthened our programs and outreach.
We were privileged to have Mr. Noshir Dadrawala, CEO, CAP India as our special guest. His insightful talk on CSR compliance added immense value to the evening and deepened our understanding of responsible and impactful social development.
The program concluded with a warm felicitation ceremony, acknowledging and celebrating the dedication of all our partners who have stood with us throughout this journey.
A big thank you to each one of you for being a part of our story. Together, we look forward to creating many more years of meaningful impact. Our Story

Niramaya health Foundation is a grassroots non-governmental organization founded in 2001 by service minded and dedicated Public Health Professionals from Pratham Education. The Micronutrient Deficiencies in preschool children prompted the team to start this organization to address unmet nutritional needs in the children. The organization is registered under the Section 25C of Companies act, and the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA).

Since Niramaya’s inception, the healthcare activities have broadened beyond child health and nutrition to good health for all. Niramaya has also expanded the range of the healthcare activities from curative to preventive and promotive health. In all these years, Niramaya has developed cost-effective, measurable and sustainable healthcare projects and programs. The modus operandi is that of liaising with public and charitable health care providers and beneficiaries. Niramaya finds that this helps to achieve set goals as well as empower communities to benefit from the available services. Every year Niramaya is able to transform and touch lives of 10, 00,000 beneficiaries directly or indirectly.
