The current social conditions – those which are reported and those which go unreported, only affirm the belief in the apathetic state of community mental health. Not only has the cultural fold weakened in our societal makeup, but it has almost almost nullified, leading to a host of problems on an individual level. Syndromes affecting an individual are consequently affecting the society at a deeper and greater level. Though it may seem that progress is taking place at an exceedingly amazing pace, man is only becoming numb, inherently. The need for mental health awareness and importantly, a support system consisting of social workers and professionals is hence required. With the basic objective of spreading awareness about the need for mental health, we aim to hold workshops, conferences, community/group-based learning tools and methods, focus groups, meet-ups, and work on strategic development in terms of communal support and growth.

Self-management is the ability to prioritize goals, decide what must be done, and be accountable to complete the necessary actions. Comprehensive self-management involves four realms: physical, mental, social, and spiritual.

While doing all this isn't easy, one can definitely try and approach the task, step by step. Here are some easy steps one can take towards self management.

There's a huge difference between just feeling better and actually getting better. Do not confuse one with the other as actually getting better isn't something that happens instantly. It needs one to do a lot of inner work, have perseverance and take actual effort to set up realistic goals and achieve them.

A lot of us end up trudging down this road of making others happy. It’s what is called ‘seeking external approval’.

We want others to affirm us as nice, good, happy people and we try really hard to become that – at times, against our own core values and beliefs.
