Core Pilates is a Mumbai based Pilates studio that focuses on fitness and overall health. Started in 2013 by Sheetal Shah, Core Pilates has assisted several clients from homemakers to athletes, to improve their fitness, flexibility, stamina and overall health. Sheetal gave up her career in a prominent local assets management firm to focus on raisin her two children over 20 years ago. Her heart and soul was always into fitness however, and in an endeavour to maintain her fitness levels she experimented with virtually every offering including aerobics, weight training, yoga and spinning. Despite exploring all of these avenues, she still found something lacking in her routine. Her journey with Pilates began with a certified training course from Balanced Body Inc. in 2013. After completing her course, she started Core Pilates from her home studio though which she has helped several clients enhance their fitness, flexibility and overall well-being.

1. STRENGTHENS YOUR STOMACH AND GLUTEAL MUSCLES: Strengthening your deep abdominal muscles will help counter the laxity so you’re less likely to develop pain in your pelvis and lower back.

2. REDUCES BACK PAIN: Helps to give you better awareness of your posture, which tends to change as your baby grows further leading to a decrease in back pain.

So, what is Pre - Natal Pilates?

Prenatal Pilates is a series of exercises specially designed for mums-to-be in their 2nd or 3rd trimester and is beneficial in preparing the body for birth by strengthening the tummy, back and pelvic floor muscles without straining other joints.

Wondering if Pilates is safe during pregnancy?

Studies have shown that physical exercise carries minimal risk during a healthy pregnancy.

Pilates, with its low impact emphasis on stabilizing the joints can eliminate or manage many of the typical pregnancy-related aches and pains.

That said, to be extra cautious, always consult a prenatal healthcare professional before embarking on or continuing any exercise program when pregnant.
