A must-visit for lovers of Carnatic classical music 🎶
Just 1.2 km from Mulberry Bay lies a quiet, deeply revered heritage home—the residence of the legendary Mysore Vasudevacharya. Located at 67/1, Sayyaji Rao Road, Agrahara, Fort Mohalla, Mysuru, this old traditional house stands as a living testament to the legacy of one of Carnatic music’s greatest composers.
Often referred to as the “divine home,” this simple yet soulful residence once housed the asthāna vidwan of the Mysore Palace—the singer, composer, scholar, and legend who shaped generations of Carnatic music. Nestled in Agrahara, the house reflects his humble life in what was then a modest 2BHK bungalow along today’s New Sayyaji Rao Road.
Unlike the grandeur of Mysore Palace, this is not a typical tourist attraction—it is a place to feel music, history, and devotion. The house continues to host musical homages and intimate concerts, keeping Vasudevacharya’s spirit and compositions alive.
On one such memorable occasion, I was truly thrilled to be treated to a soulful concert by the Rangan Brothers, who sang beautifully and brought the space alive with classical magic. Adding to the joy, they were staying with us at Mulberry Bay, having come to Mysuru for this concert—making the experience both personal and unforgettable.
For true music enthusiasts, this is sacred ground—a place to pause, listen, and connect deeply with Mysuru’s rich Carnatic heritage.
