I have a heated body, and I tend to sweat a lot, coupled with obesity. Yet, you suggested incorporating oil, chilli, and spices! ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ

Consuming spicy foods triggers ulcer issues, hot flashes, burning sensations, or even loose motions for me.

As Ayurveda wisely states, "Purusham Purusham Veekshya," meaning each patient is unique.

During this period, it is essential to reduce both pitta and kapha in the body. In such instances, foods with bitter tastes play a crucial role in weight reduction. Opt for foods that specifically reduce pitta and kapha without any side effects, such as gases. ๐Ÿƒ

While everyone should enjoy all tastes, focusing on more bitter tastes until you restore your body's constitution is advisable.

For instance, consider incorporating Medicated Nagarmotha Water (1 Lit), Natural Honey (Old is Gold), Amla with honey, Sandalwood with honey, Trifla, Moong, and Toor dal into your diet. ๐Ÿฅฆ

Pair these with items like cucumber, Palak sabzi, Karela and karwal in a meal. In such conditions, millets, excluding Bajra, can be included. Additionally, engaging in slow exercises is most beneficial.

Once your prakriti (your true nature) is restored, it's crucial to maintain it.

This is what happens when a Vata (Lean) person becomes obsessed (Kapha vikruti) due to various reasons.

In this condition, Vata and Kapha in the body are becoming dominant, resulting in excess fat along with the air element.

If you incorporate millet well, you can end up reducing body weight but increasing dryness, body pain, and mood swings. ๐ŸŒพ

If you try to balance the air element by adding more fats, milk, and wheat, you end up becoming obsessed (increasing Kapha in the body).

As per Charak Rishi, this condition requires the removal of the causes, self-observation, and implementation of things that help balance both conditions together.

What is the right approach in this condition: have barley in a meal, use sesame oil for external application and internal consumption, buttermilk, Shilajit, etc. ๐Ÿฒ

And once the prakriti (your true nature) is back, maintain it.

There is a considerable debate in India regarding the classification of wheat with its gluten content and milk with its lactose, as poison nowadays, even when sourced organically.

Upon learning that the Indian army would now be served with millet flour (Roti) which was shocking! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

In the army, individuals engage in laborious activities that increase pitta and vata in the body. They require nourishing food due to their robust agni and ability to digest heavy meals.

When we consider Ragi, Jowar, and Bajra, they are dry and light, making them easier to digest which increases the vata in the body. In cold regions, the situation can worsen. (Except for Bajra) โ„๏ธ

In today's world, where many people work from home, sitting for extended hours, do you expect milk and wheat products to get digested? ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ’ผ

The condition is called "Avasta Virrudha,โ€ which means when you have good agni, you should opt for heavy-to-digest food, and when your agni is light, you should choose light-to-digest food. Interestingly, many are unaware that in individuals with Pitta Diseases (Example: Stomach Ulcer), garlic can act like a slow poison. However, for those with Vata and Kapha Diseases, it transforms into an excellent tonic. ๐Ÿ”„๐ŸŒฐ

In my practice, I've observed patients successfully addressing their cardiac issues but unintentionally developing ulcers in their system. This outcome often results from consuming foods contrary to their current body condition, a concept known as "Dosh Virrudh" in Ayurveda. ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿฒ

For instance, Dosh Virrudh for Vata condition might involve consuming popcorn or engaging in excess exercise when there is dryness or pain in the body, influenced by factors such as age, season, food, or habits. ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ‹๏ธ

Similarly, Dosh Virrudh for Kapha could manifest as eating bananas, drinking milk, or sleeping in the afternoon. Understanding and respecting these nuances is crucial for maintaining harmony in one's health journey.

I have no problem with eating spicy food; it doesn't affect my health at all. ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ (Oh, those Ayurveda enthusiasts...)

This phenomenon is known as *"Satmeha Virrudha."* It refers to something that you naturally develop by birth or become accustomed to based on the community or environment you live in. ๐Ÿ”„

According to Ayurveda, it is considered incorrect to consume very spicy food, but what if the person is habituated? ๐Ÿค”

Let me provide an example to illustrate this point. ๐Ÿ“š

Person A, living in Kashmir, has been having very spicy food for years and is now experiencing skin-related issues (relevant to 90% of people in India). This case is Asatmeha. ๐Ÿคข

On the other hand, *Person B*, who resides in Rajasthan, has been practising very spicy food since birth but is not experiencing any health issues. In fact, if he eats something sweet, he gets acidity (max 10% of people in India). ๐ŸŒ

Acharya Vagbhatta suggested that the contradictory foods which have become Satmya in *Case A* should be discontinued by a quarter, and thereafter, Hitha Ahara should be introduced gradually with intervals of one, two, and three days. โฐ

As per Ayurveda, most ailments develop due to faulty eating habits, so Ayurveda deals with the Pathya Vyavastha (planning of diet and dietetics) in a very scientific way.

Pathya is the one that keeps the person healthy, maintains normal body functions, leads to proper functioning of the organs, nourishes the mind and intellect, prevents diseases, and at the same time, corrects the irregularities that may occur in the body. ๐ŸŒฑ

Before consumption, one must consider whether the food combination is safe and follows the rules and conditions for the intake of food. ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ

Well, this is not a coincidence; it is called different types of Agni (Digestive Fire) for different body types. ๐ŸŒ‹

"You might have heard about the term *'Do not eat until you feel hungry'* (Read the sentence six times).

Well, if I were the health minister, I would have printed big banners with this quote across the nation. This is that important.

Now you see, those who are lean have been asked to eat very heavy or very light to digest food, and they end up being constipated.

Those who are obese have been advised to eat raw food (which is heavy to digest).

People with a good appetite have been recommended to fast or eat very light-to-digest food, where they end up creating ulcers in their body." (What is good for Someone may not be good for everyone; it is that simple) ๐Ÿค”

The Above concept is called โ€œAgni Viruddhaโ€ as per Ayurved.

If your appetite is good, you eat well with proper exercise. If you feel hungry sometimes and not at other times, observe the intensity of your hunger and eat accordingly. If you do not feel hungry at all, it means more fasting and infusion of herbs are required.

Failure to follow this concept may lead to the production of Ama (toxins).

"When we observe the terms above, it becomes apparent that there is no such term as 'dietitian.'

Since your appetite may vary as per Age, Disease condition, Body type, etc. how can someone predict what your Agni will be like two days from now with the current food plan? No matter whatever imported items you eat, including supplements, fruits, and fruit juices, it is of no use until you can digest them.

*Because nutrition is not just in the product; it is always in the Agni* (You might have seen some people taking medicines and not being able to digest them).

Curd causes obstruction, and skin diseases, creates blockages, and impures the blood. On the other hand, as per modern science, curd (Just an Example) is a good source of probiotics, calcium, and protein. But what is the reality?

One of the problems in India is this: we have 6 different seasons, and many people do not know this. These seasons are Hemant, Shishir, Vasant, Grishma, Varsha, and Sharad, and they have a huge impact on your body. (Have you heard about seasonal health problems? This is what it is)

"If I talk about the properties of curd, as per Ayurveda, it is hot, heavy, and lubricating.

Did I say hot? Yes!"

"And now, you tell me, did you consider that it is cold? (If you are already part of the community, you know it well.) And as per Ayurveda, you should never, ever consume it in these hot seasons, i.e., Grishma (Summer) and Sharad (Autumn)."

These are the hot seasons, so why do you want to have curd? Enjoy ice cream instead. โ„๏ธ๐Ÿฆ

On the other hand, during the Vasant (Spring) season, Naturally in the Body Kapha (Mucus) is aggravated(Increases) since curd increases the kapha; You have no chance of consuming curd here. So you can only enjoy it in Hemant, Shishir (Early and Later winter) since curd is hot and Varsha (Rainy) Season. โ˜”

"As in the last post, We discussed *'Deshvirrudh'*; now, we are talking about *'Kalvirudh,'* which becomes a factor in consuming the wrong food during the *wrong season.*

If you eat curd during the season, you create trouble; you can surely create a diabetic condition or develop skin diseases. But that doesn't mean you should go against it, as it works as a tonic for lean (Vata) people, which nourishes the body tissue. ๐ŸŒฟ

"So, next time, if you express an opinion, it should not be generalized, which may create disbelief in people. Instead, learn about your food from an Ayurvedic perspective and share the right knowledge with people. Why? As per Ayurveda, everything is medicine. Even the Best organic food can turn harmful when the location gets changed. ๐ŸŒ

Most of us follow food trends on social media while focusing on nutrition rather than knowing the quality and the potency of the food. What I'm saying isn't new, but Ayurvedic doctors often avoid discussing it, maybe because we aren't receptive since we donโ€™t know the basics. ๐Ÿค”

I want to take you to the old days; do you remember when you had a cough and cold (with mucus), and you did not dare to eat a banana, and you internally realized ("Beta Kela mat khana nahi to Jukham aur bad jayega")? ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ˜ท

Think about eating ice cream in cold weather or consuming very spicy food in hot weatherโ€”but your body would love to have the exact opposite. ๐Ÿฆ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ

For instance, living in Shimla and eating foods like Gulkand, Ash Guard, or Grapes (cold potency food), while in Jaisalmer (one of the hottest cities), spicy foods like Mirch, Masala, and Hing can turn harmful. ๐Ÿž๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ

So instead of blaming the food, knowing about it; it is very important. ๐Ÿค“

Since there is no technology to detect the potency till now, that is why ancient sages observed every ingredient closely (Clinical Trial in the old days). This opposite mismatch of foods due to a change in location is called โ€œDeshvirrudh." ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ

"Chiwda, Chakli & Laddu aren't the healthiest choices; it's advisable to steer clear of them, similar to the warnings about hard-to-digest heavy foods.

Now, consider this: our wise Rishis acted as the world's best dietitian, tailoring food choices to suit changing seasons and various festivals, ensuring a harmonious balance between our diet and the time of year.

"As winter starts, if you are healthy and understand your digestive fire, you can enjoy the season's perks. Your body naturally gears up to handle heartier foods during wintertime. If you don't feed food as per your intense Digestive Fire (Tikshna Agni), it can cause issues and throw off your body's balance, possibly leading to discomfort (increasing the Vata dosa). So, enjoying heavier foods is usually fine unless you have a health condition (Which happened due unable to incorporate food as per body type or as per the season in the past). Before diving into these tasty treats, it's important to think about your current Digestive fire.

Enjoy your food wisely!โ€

Simplified Conclusion:

When winter comes to your town, your digestion gets a boost.

If you're more of a Vata person, it's a great time to gain weight and enjoy foods that suit you.

For the Pitta folks, indulge in tasty winter food, but don't forget to do good exercises too.

Kapha friends, be a bit cautious. Winter might bring some challenges. Take care of your body, and watch out for feeling a bit off emotionally. Winter can be awesome โ€“ just make sure you take care of your digestive fire and don't forget to do good exercises(Starting from slow to intense) too.!
