The Family Adoption Programme visit for the MBBS 2025 A Batch was successfully conducted today by the Department of Community Medicine, GMC Nagpur.

This initiative aims to introduce first-year students to real-life community settings, helping them understand family health, social determinants, and the importance of compassionate and preventive care early in their medical journey.

🎓 Visit to Common Biomedical Waste Treatment Facility

📍 Venue: Superb Hygienic Disposal, Bhandewadi, Nagpur

As a part of the academic enrichment activities, the Postgraduate students of the Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College, Nagpur, visited the Common Biomedical Waste Treatment Facility (CBWTF) at Superb Hygienic Disposal, Bhandewadi, Nagpur.

During the visit, the students observed the incineration process for anatomical waste, and the safe disposal of sharps into sharp pits, gaining valuable insights into the scientific handling and systematic segregation of biomedical waste.

This educational visit offered an excellent opportunity to understand the practical aspects of biomedical waste management, emphasizing safety, sustainability, and environmental protection.

Today Community Medicine Department of GMC Nagpur visited the District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC) and Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) at Daga Hospital, Nagpur. DEIC functions as a one-stop centre under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), providing early detection, intervention, and referral services for children with developmental delays, disabilities, and health conditions. NRC plays a crucial role in the management of children with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM), offering medical care, nutritional rehabilitation, and caregiver counselling. Both centres together ensure holistic child health care, addressing medical as well as nutritional needs at an early stage📝

Anti-Ragging Week is observed in educational institutions across India to raise awareness about the harmful effects of ragging and to promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment. Ragging, which includes any form of physical, verbal, or psychological harassment of new students, is strictly prohibited under law and institutional policies. During this week, colleges and universities organize awareness programs, workshops, street plays, and discussions to educate students about the legal consequences of ragging and the importance of mutual respect. As part of the observance, students and staff take an Anti-Ragging Pledge affirming that they will neither participate in nor tolerate any form of ragging, and will work towards maintaining a friendly and supportive atmosphere for all.
